Meeting in Europe
Meeting in Europe
Well, BavarianRam and I had a nice meeting last weekend.

I took some pics.

I did not create any evidence of the consumption of adult beverages, and I will not comment without my lawyer ;D

AlpineRAM
Re:Meeting in Europe
You wonder why there aren't too many 3500s over here ???
Actually this is not the norm, but I thought it looks cool to see one of these trucks in the old city.

AlpineRAM

They sold it as the 318ti here in the States for a while). Not without rubbing on both sides, anyway.
Re:Meeting in Europe
jfpointer: Yes it's a 318ti you see- BMW has the same names over here. This car could use a good scraping ;D

The point of 3500 sales was intended to be ironic.

MCMLV Yes some people were giving us thumbs up and performing pantomimes for us

Re:Meeting in Europe
Markus,
Looks like I missed a good one. I should be returning to Poland in the next couple of weeks. However, we will only have one Sunday to goof off,so we might run over to Berlin, just for the day.

You guys should take some smoke pics. Although, I'm sure you would get in trouble with the Police, as strict as they are with the large trucks in Europe.

I had a 318is a few years ago--it was a pretty good car in most ways, but it wasn't exactly a screamer.

Now if you could use the dually fender to scrape the motor out of that ti and put in something along the lines of the V8 out of the M5, you'd have something. Oh, sure, it would probably handle like a pig, but your eyeballs would be permanently plastered to the back of your skull. 8)
Re:Meeting in Europe
Alpine,

I can't open your photos, but after driving a '77 Ford Full-Size Long Bed Standard Cab Pickup in Naples, Italy from '88 - '92, I can understand and salute your skill in putting a dually through the streets in Austria. There were times in Naples when I would tell my wife to reach out and pull the mirror in - we were going through with maybe 2 inches on each side - both of us leaning out watching the sides to be sure we would make it through. On that Ford, I put headers and dual exhaust, full grille guard with four driving lights and the spare tire on the front, and class IV hitch under the rear bumper, the local Fiat drivers would find somewhere else to drive. It was a blast to drive there.

We took photos of Brenner Pass there at the gas station just before crossing the border into Austria. My wife gave one of those photos to a Philipino Lady who turned it into a huge oil painting. It sits above our fireplace mantle. Fond memories.

DW

Re:Meeting in Europe
DeaconWayne: I do not drive a dually. I thought about it but since vehicles with a GVW of more than 3500 kg are forbidden to drive on weekends the 3500 would have much less payload than the 2500 for me
Still the 2500 is fun on our streets. But you have to remove tha small cars from your air filter all the time.

DieselDaze: I was thinking of founding a European or central European chapter. I think it could prove useful for the users over here.
Even though we don't have a chapter yet (I will have to look into the rules for opening a chapter) every DTRonian who comes over here should just give a holler- maybe we can have a little impromptu meeting or I can help out with infos, tools, etc...

AlpineRAM
