Volbeat
They are actually danish, from my neck of the woods, they have had some songs "in rotation" on the radio, and it ain't that bad I think.

If you want german music, you should be looking for " rammstein ", but most of their lyrics are in german, the music is kinda heavy, and I sometimes enjoy looking at their liveshows on youtube.
They really make a show.

Volebeat is on the radio constantly here.

Rammstein's DU Hast was a relatively big seller here for a while... I remember it being played in the bars / clubs all the time.. I remember (and liked the) the riff but never understood what they were saying... Just used to walk about pretending to know what I was saying...

Evil yet popish....

Hey T.. You like old school stuff also... ....I posted this same video a while back..If these guys play in your area..You have to see them...I've seen them twice here...And it's true...The older these guys get the better their concerts are...

These guys are older than me....And I don't have that kind of energy..

That's who I was thinking of. Don't really like their stuff. Now that you pointed that out I can't say I've heard much else from Volbeat.

Since Rush keeps getting mentioned....
2112 is actually a 7-part song and goes on for 20 minutes.

My aunt gave me her old tape collection when I was in high school, the copy of Moving Pictures had the markers for the cassette player in my Dakota to stop at the next track and it had auto-reverse. In two years I nearly wore that tape out. I might have put another one in for a few days at some point, but it wouldn't have been for long.

Notice the time on the clock on the Clockwork Angels cover? Think PM and military time.

YYZ was one of several songs designed to give themselves a break during the show. This one let the singer have a break from singing. Every airport has a 3-letter call sign, I think YYZ is Toronto International.
Listening to Subdivions, you think about the people in the city versus those who live in the new city outside the city, but as you listen closer it's also about social divisions and isolation.

I always dug on RUSH! Seen them twice, once in LA and the other time in Vancouver.

Guess the Beat Farmers won't be returning anytime soon, Country Dick Montana died in 1995, in Whistler BC. Interestingly I had moved from San Diego to Washington in 1992 and was having a music redirection period and lost track of some old favorites. I was at Mt. Baker Ski Area working out in the sticks back then and only saw an occasional newspaper and only came to town on the weekends, if at all, so I missed hearing of CDM's passing even though it occurred about 2 hours away!! Crazy.

Subdivisions really clicked for me way back when it first came out.....

Signals, although not Rush's commercial breakthrough album, was the quintessential moment in their history where they changed the lives of teenagers (and former teenagers) all over the world. Peart's lyrics in Subdivisions caught a chord / nerve in those of us who were living in a time where we were alienated by our peers, and felt alone. It grasped the moment as we walked "un-noticed" through that tumultuous, difficult period of being a teenager, and to this day each time I pop that CD in the slot, I feel the same way I did back then, the first time I heard that song. I had the record version of it, and I wore it out within the first month of owning that album.

That song made me .... and others I know... feel as though we weren't alone any longer.

Thanks Peart !

Subdivisions clicked for me back then. I was one of the popular kids and bigger physically than most, so I caught on that my responsibility was to help, not hinder, the wierds, wacks and nerds.

I have never had a tolerance for the druggers, so I usually don't involve myself with them, other than to say I am not qualified to help you, but there are people who are....go find one.

In my own personal idea of a Rock Hall of Fame, mine would differ greatly from who's in the real one!!!
