MDA boot drive

Here we are once again standing at the entrance to one of the largest malls in New England collecting money for The MDA. I personally put about 30 hours of my own time doing this every year, no big deal for me, it a great thing to do. What really blows my mind are the people who give vs the ones whom attempt to run you over instead of dishing anything out. We are not pushy, we walk up and down the lanes in uniform holding a boot, we also display 4'x8' signs explaining what we are doing and why we are doing it.

For the last 10 years that I have been doing this there has been 3 undeniable truths that I have learned.

1- Most young white girls can't be bothered and find us to be a hinderance to their ability to text while driving and actually swearing at us with profanity that should never come from a female.

2-Middle aged white men in their BMW's, Infinity's, Lexus, Mercedes, or Caddy's would rather purposely run you down then toss a quarter in a boot. I am talking about 90% of these individuals look at us with utter disdain and usually give us the solo finger wave.

3- The bigger piece of crap the car, the more money they willingly donate. I mean bald tires, brakes metal to metal, not one panel the same color, smoking like a freight train, yadayada. Oh sure here is $20.00 thanks for doing this we love you guy's.

If you see the fire guy's collecting rest assured it ALL goes to Jerry's kids. Toss a buck in the boot and help a kid.

Thanks

Its great that you give back. I too support charity work as much as I can and always give when I see people working for a cause.

I myself, understandably, am a big supporter of the Shriner's Hospitals. They do amazing things for children. You never know when you may end up on the needing end.

Although I do give to them too, the only organization that aggravates the heck out of me is the Salvation Army, and only at Christmas time. Those bells drive me nuts!

I've noticed the same thing when we do ours. We are a small town so we know pretty much everyone we see, but I notice the type of people that give more usually seem to have less.

Like Hvytrkmech said it's for a great cause so help out if you can and Thank You!
