Lousy interview

Not on my part. I performed well; just the guy who interviewed me didn’t even take the time to read my cover letter. Just interviewed me blind. So, about 20 min into the interview I realized this and asked him "what is it I am interviewing for?” Then had to explain to him that wasn’t the job position I was applying for. Needless to say the interview didn’t go as well as I had planned.

I was applying to start up and run a fleet maintenance program for the company and he was interviewing me to be a diesel generator technician. Waist of putting on a tie in my opinion.

Funny things about interviews.

More often than not, if you've been called in for an interview, you've already passed some of the required criteria. Generally, the in-person interview is more about the exploration of the interviewees attitude.
As long as you came across composed and confident, you never know where these kind of things will go.
They may call you back for a better position... ya just never know.

Good luck one way or the other.

Rich.

Back in the ole' days I went through literally hundreds of resumes and interviewed dozens of applicants for supervisory and engineering positions. Before they ever came in, I would go over their resume cover to cover. The first thing I would do was explain the job we had open and ask them point blank if they were still interested. I asked a lot of questions and encouraged them to do the same. Since most of them were right out of college, and if they were from out of state, I would even go into detail about being away from family and friends. By going through this detailed process, I'm happy to say that I only hired a couple that didn't work out. We'll not get into the affirmative action applicants.....
