Lost my dad.....

...last Saturday morning after 3 years of poor health caused by Alzheimer's. In the end he went real fast. I just had him out Easter Sunday eating dinner and visiting my mom who is hospitalized. He was a good guy, Navy Captain and aviator, a WWII vet. Spent 30+ years in active duty and reserves. Over 4000 hours in the left seat, and at one time held an instructor and commercial pilot's license. He had "the right stuff". Never met anyone who had bad word about him. We're taking his ashes offshore where he spent many a fishing trip, and countless hours above it while on patrol to keep our country safe. I'm going to miss him....... Rest in peace, Pop.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like he lead a full life. Alzheimers is a tough one, it can be just as hard on the family as it is on the person suffering.
Hope your Mother is feeling well.

Sorry to hear of the loss Commatoze. Sounds like he lived a full life. I am grateful for folks of his generation (and other generations as well) for putting their life on the line to protect ours.

Fair winds and following seas Captain.

The Greatest Generation gave us all the liberty we enjoy today. Without your father's sacrafice, courage, bravery, and dedication to our country we would all be living under a fascist dictator. You and your family should be proud of his service.

His passing although sad is part of the circle of life. He more than most understood it all too well. I'm sure he is still flying left seat for the angels that haven't earned their wings yet.

Keep his memories alive by displaying his military medals & the flag that draped his coffin.

Heros don't come along everyday.

I know it is hard, but having such positive memories will keep him in good stead. I am sorry for your loss, but time will help with the lost feeling. He is in God's hands now.

God opened his arms widely Saturday to take your dad into his fold. It was men like him and so many others that have given this world the peace and greatness we all so much take for granted today. Your dad, as well as mine, and many others around us, led this world out of an almost fatal destruction back in the 40's. They have each earned our utmost respect for the trials they faced as young men, and the bounties that each of us enjoy each and every day. How fitting it is that the Lord welcomed him home while each of us were remembering all of those men and women, who like your dad, were so selfless for the sake of others.

Your family will be in my family's prayers.

Gary

Remember the good times you had with what sounds like a fine man.

If you are a Christian, God's promises can bring much comfort. I like Psalms 37.
