Personally, I would be all over that 2wd Mega-cab.

My Dad alway had 4x4 trucks but I never have, always preferring the benefits of 2wd.
I don't use my truck for work, but do pull a 10k lbs 5th wheel and live in snow country although it's flat around here.

Good luck with your shopping.... Joe

Thanks. I just always liked having the option of that 4wd. I like the stance of the 2wd better though. Some good meaty tires in the rear and some weight in the bed and I should be okay I guess.

Just means you are going to find a killer deal to make up for the one you have let go. Seems to work that way if you have patience. Sorry for you in the meanwhile.

Thanks Rami. I am positive you will be very happy with your purchase.

I even thought about going to a cheaper @#$% powered Dodge Ram as there are plenty of those available around here. (Sorry for the cursing)
I just can't bring myself to even consider having a truck without a Cummins in it though. You know, there are just NO Cummins powered Dodges at any of the dealers closeby. It's pretty crazy. I did see a nice one on Craigslist that isn't too far away and it is in my price range. No leather interior though. I'm sorry but I think that new cloth interior looks like, um well let's just say it's not my favorite. I may have to deal with it though to get in the truck...
I will keep you guys informed of course.
I appreciate everyone's thoughts. It's no fun being in my current position after doing fine for so many years. I'll make it through though. Thanks

Sorry about the problems. Just don't go away--you are to this site as VZ Dude is to another site. Please don't get desperate and start looking at
F--d or Che--y. Their forum couldn't handle your obivous love of a Cummins.

Carolina Dodge in Elizabeth Cith NC are doing a buy one get one for tax/title/tags right now. Maybe you can find someone to split the cost with and you both can make out. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm actually considering a nice looking 2wd 2001 HO w/ 6-speed. I love the look of the truck. It just needs some big fat meats in the back and some weight in the bed and I won't be scared to go anywhere. I can get that AND buy a car to drive on days when I don't feel like shifting gears. I kind of like that idea.....

I'm still driving the 08 while the banks get all the details of the sale worked out. I can tell you that I am tired of looking for a truck right now. I can't wait until I make a decision and can be done with this...

Maybe I'm looking at this wrong.... but why are you buying another diesel? If your concerned about your job, your house and your family.....Why don't you buy a 5-7 thousand dollar civic or accord and get by for now. Your not really helping your situation if you jump off and buy another diesel, then you have to put tires on it......and so on. Like I said, maybe I'm looking at this whole situation the wrong way.

Because I have a 30' long trailer that I use to make side money whenever I can. Plus if things get too much worse then I may have to pack all my crap up in the trailer and move on. I doubt a Civic or Accord could pull the trailer, even with some Timbrens on it.....

I don't get on here much anymore due to my new toy and surfing there forums but man i always read your posts. They were very well spoken and you always seemed to have the knowledge and facts to back things up. As i get back on track with the truck and start to mod a few more things please feel free to still drop in on the 6.7 stuff and fill me in bud. Good luck on the new/old truck and sorry to hear about your misfourtunes.

I have a 12 valve and a CR.

The nice things about a CR quieter, more room in the cab, 4 doors, steers a little better but the front end still sucks. More FOO FOO interior. More power stock than a 12er and better brakes.

Bad things about a CR. Lift pump crap, electrical nightmare, takes 40 acres to turn around, thinner feeling sheet metal, seats are terrible for long trips, blend door junk the air doesn't circulate unless the fan is on. Buying a scan tool, clearing codes, breaks down easier.

Bad things about a 12 valve. Not as much power as a CR (but you can get there) noisier than a CR, interior not as nice. It only has 2 doors. Crappy front end on the 4x. Junky steel wheels stock, breaks aren't great, drums in the rear inexcusible at that age. Auto sucks worse than the 48RE. 5 spd trans had problems with 5th gear. KDP is a bad deal.

Good things about a 12 valver. Turns great much better than a CR. Way less stuff to have problems with. No codes to read. Correct the speedo with a 15 dollar part in the rear axle. No lift pump issues. 5 spd shifts night and day better than the NV5600 and has better ratios than any of the CR's. Gets around tight spaces much easier.

I have both I should have bought another 12 valve instead of my CR.
