Re:looking for used truck

Are you into hotrodding are towing are just driving and occasional pulling ?

1. 1998 12valve no computer controlled motor. 2. 1998.5 and up to 2002 24 valve easy for power upgrades
3. 2003 Has the most H.P. and torque stock from the factory

WARNING !!
If you start BOMBING you won't stop. Want even be able to feed yourself. That is what I'm waiting to do so I can lose some of my belly.

Down here in Southeast Texas there are quite a few used trucks forsale if you want to drive that far. You looking for 2500 or 3500 single or dually? Short or Long Bed ? Longbed Dually if you are gonna tow alot IMHO, Shortbed 2500 for driving and some towing better fuel milage. Personnally I think any yr. with a Cummins in it is good. Brother has a 1992 right at 300,000 miles on it still a puffing black smoke out of it. I'm sure sombody else will chime in and help you out and give you there opinion.

the 1st years of the 24 valve are the worse- you want one with the crank sensor in the front of the eng. not over the starter.- It's not that the sensor is bad, there is a noise generated by the toothed gear bolted to the back ot the crank...if it loosens up generates a harmonic noise which pops the litle plastic oil cooler jets out of thir homes (not a good thing) t.m.o.

Re:looking for used truck

I have sort-of been following your troubles over on the other site. It is unfortunate that you have had such a rotten experiance. Did ford step up or did you need the big hammer?
Any how, In my opinion, dodge hasn't stopped making the quad cab. They have just put "real" doors on it. The 03-04 quad cabs are the same wheel base as the ford super cabs. I am only into my truck for three weeks now and find the ability to open the doors independantly of the front VERY handy.
Best of luck in your "new" truck, what ever that may be. It can only get better. And welcome to the site!
