Looks like plowing?? What model tractor you got there?? Looks like an IH??
Wish it were dry enough here to get some of that done. Just got another nasty gully washer about 20 minutes ago.

Yep. After enlarging the photo I could see its a series 3 or 4 D17. I use that same engine (E gleaner) in my pulling tractor.

You too huh? Night time was way more fun. I had trouble not falling asleep in the daytime. The diesel 45's though would put circles around the gassers (no surprises there). Dad put some WC (I think) pistons in a gasser one time, it would pull 4 plows, but you had to pull it to start it. Too much compression Talk about a muffler glowing. . .

D 17 III with 12 ft wheel disc trying to get a hey field ready to seed but the wind is blowin to hard to sow, and i do all the plowin with the big (D) but last time it jumped out of 3rd now it won't stay in so 2nd will have to do till i can get into the trans. its got an aftermarket three pc manifold that keeps the fuel cold and a hp boost of 13 dyno tested, 59hp down into the govener, i do have a set of 5in straits and twin stock mufflers i switch back and forth, by the way when im plowin it sounds real good for about 30 mins then (NOT SO MUCH)

I put a WD 45 crank in my first wc without changing the pistons or rods. Compression was 225ish on each cylinder. Had to use 24 volts to the starter for it to start. also put a 170 ground cam in it with a ported d17 head. Never did any farming with it but it was pretty unstopable in the 3500 class until they started letting everyone use the d17 block. Building a wd for farm class now with the same setup except the head.

3 pc manifold for a D17?? Where might a guy found one of those?? Never heard of one. Unless its one of those Dennys pulling header/manifold setups?

He used it for a while but said it just kept burning mufflers up. Ended up getting tired of having to pull it to start, so he changed it back to regular and ended up getting rid of it. Crazy how you used to be able to interchange parts and engines out of different models without much trouble. . .
