living in Brunswick, Maine? any info?

i am about to get out of the military, and need to find a job. I may have an offer in Charleston SC, or Brunswick Maine

this site says it may be a tad more expensive in ME:
http://www.bestplaces.net/col/colres...y=6400&salary=

or go here to figure out your own:
http://www.bestplaces.net/col/col.aspx

but what about other stuff? how long is the motorcycle season in ME?

we were in Nebraska for 3 years, so I don't think the cold is a big problem.

thoughts ?

this was on that website, at the top, when I looked again:

Compare Cost of Living

* To maintain the same standard of living, your salary of $50,000 in Charleston-North Charleston, SC should increase to $55,408 in Portland, ME
* Stated another way, it's 10.8% more expensive to live in Portland, ME than Charleston-North Charleston, SC

and those salary numbers equate to about the difference in pay for the two jobs.
we lived in Chasn for 4 years, long ago.
oh, what to do?

Brunswick would get my vote as I actually like cool and cold weather, and hate high humidity. That area of Maine is beautiful any time of year and there's thousands of places to explore, go fishing, skiing, kyacking, canoeing. Here's some figures on Brunswick. It's not a big city.

edit- One thing about northern New England, in the summer it gets light very early in the morning, and in the winter the sun sets very early in the evening, like 4PM.

I'd vote for Brunswick. But then again, I'm from ME and will probably retire there when I get out of the military. Well, if the wife says it's OK....

Like Commatoze, I enjoy the cold weather, too and can't stand the heat. I'm in TX now and escaping in a couple of months, but it's been a tough tour.

Motorcycle "season" is probably about 5 or so months, but if you dress properly, you can probably extend that out another 2 months because there won't be snow on the roads.
