Thumbs up Little League World Series on ESPN

Anybody else here watching this??

I am an avid fan of this series every year ever since those kids from the NE won the world series 3-4 years ago!

Remember those kids?? I can't remember what state they were from but they were the first Americans to beat the Asians (Japan??) in something like 10-12 years. It was a big deal and I really really enjoyed it!!

Also, I love these LLWS games because it reminds me of how Baseball should be/used to be like in America.

These kids aren't there on the field earning umpteen-stupid-ridiculous amounts of money playing the game. They are there playing a game the way it was meant to be played. Play your best, hit the ball, score the most runs, try to not let your opponent do the same, and bask in the glory of winning the game when you do outplay the other team.

Todays "Major League" Baseball is just a pimple on a Donkeys Butt. I have a Huge Hatred for the game. I guess it started way back when The Rangers signed Juan Gonzalez to the largest contract in Baseball history. Back then it was 45 Million for 9 years. Then when training camp started, he refused to show up because he was down in Puerto Rico playing in one of their leagues. Said he would be back to play the first game of the season.

And then Tom Hicks had the taxpayers of Arlington Texas foot the bill for his mutil-million dollar baseball stadium. Once the "Bonds" raised to build the stadium were paid off, what did Tom Hicks do???? He sold the naming rights to "Ameriquest" for 30 million dollars, which he put in his pocket instead repaying the citizens of Arlington for the cost of building his stadium.

Anyways, long enough rant. I just HATE baseball today, but do LOVE watching these kids play the game!!

Anybody else's thoughts.................................... .................................................

As a High school umpire I of course have been watching just about every game. Keep your eye on Ewa Beach, Hi. They are good.

But, "Pointing to the Sky" is not an antic from todays pansies that are playing Pro Baseball.

That is an antic from the Great Ruth from way back when baseball actually meant something here in America. Not this Commercialized - Unionized - Drug Induced - Whineyized load of crap we have to put up with in todays baseball.

Hell, I'd rather watch Al Franken on the Howard Stern Show over baseball anyday.

..........and that should tell you how much this Texan HATES baseball!

Now, where's my Tylenol? I feel a headache comin' on just mentioning Franken, Stern, and Baseball in the same sentence.

Either Tylenol or Kaopectate will do the job..................................... ......................

I love little league... like mentioned above, it's pure, or more so than anything else on tv. Who knows? Maybe the coaches beat the kids to get them to play like that, and keep them chained in their basement in the off season...

It definitely beats MLB. I won't even watch that garbage.

A team from Salisbury went and a team from Preston went last year. I knew one of the Preston players. That's one of our few claims to fame on the Eastern Shore, along with being the waterfowl hunting capital of the world.

Ump a couple of games at the local level if you want to see how intense and irrational people get. I had a coach arguing with me about my strike zone this year - I mean in my face - he had bad breath. I took off my gear and handed it to him and told him to pick it up or shut up. Unbelievable.

There are legal proceedings going on in Concord, NH now about the umps calling in a game there. They were belted with pizza and drinks and had to leave in a group with protection. I know several parents and coaches have now been banned from the sport. The negative banter that goes on in the stands is outrageous, and it isn't just idle chatter. We had a minor league coach attacked by a parent last year for not playing his son. A couple of years back, a parent beat the kids hockey coach to death because of a hard check on his kid.

Remember the A-Rod incident in Toronto this year? He was going between 2nd and 3rd as a baserunner and yelled out he had the popup that Posada had just hit. Fooled the SS and 3rd baseman of Toronto into letting it drop and the Yankees scored and won the game. Think it doesn't happen at Little League? Wrong. In a game I umped this year there was a runner on second with 2 outs. The coach of the team on the field told his kids (between innings so it was planned) in the outfield to run in like it was the 3rd out if anyone made out number 2 and a runner was on for the other team. Ground out to short. Runner on second figured out number 3 because the other team was leaving the field, throw to second, tag, yur out!. The other coach was in my face screaming at me on how I could let that happen. Lasted a good ten minutes with parents screaming in the stands on both sides. What a mess but nothing illegal. Not the umps job to tell the coaches or players how many outs there are but the irritated coach got the parents so upset, it wouldn't stop. If a player or coach asks, I will tell them as an ump. But you could not believe the evil looks by the parents on the way by (and their team won!).

Sadly, I think the professionals act more professional than the idiot parents in the stands. Just unbelievable.
