A little computer help please.

ok here goes, my computer is fairly fast, but after looking at junk and my GF downloading music, it gets alittle slow.
so every once and a while i use Cleaner program and AD- Adware se program and defragment and compress my hardrive.
i also use windows defender and search and destroy spybot programs.

so heres my question, i did this week and now my downloading time is really slow. i have a cable modem/DSL ans it wont let me watch some videos, like BigBlue videos in the competition section.
please help, what did i erase? why is my computer slow now.

any help is greatly appreciated, brian

is it just slow to download or for operation too?

try www.dslreports.com and run a speed test to see if you really have a slow connection

unplug the power to the modem if it is a cable / dsl modem, wait five minutes, plug it back in............. wait for it to di its thing and try again.. might just need a reset, and powering it off is the easiest way to do it. just make usre ya wait for all the lights to go back on, note how many are on when ya start the procedure, and wait for all of them when ya restart it.

I have noticed, my connection gets slow between 4:30 and about 6 or so. Just so many people online at one time.
