Silverjay,

It isn't a bad place...it is Western Kansas. The people are genuinely nice, but the land is a little flat for me.

i lived 36 miles away from there in beaver, ok. i went to college for a bit in liberal and all i can say is have fun. it has its pros and cons like everywhere, but i dont miss it at all. they do have pancake days and have a yellow brick road from the wizard of oz, so thats about the only real attraction. try to find a place in the country to live because i didnt think liberal was a real good place to raise a family. it has alot of illegal aliens and that seems to run hand and hand with violence and trouble. i dont want to sound bad, but if i HAD to go back i would rent or buy (depending on how long i was gonna be there) in the county. whether in beaver or right inside of oklahoma state lines. but make the best of it and have fun.

Liberal aint any worse or better thatn any other smaller town.....
western Kansas can be a hard place to live for some folks, you can drive 2-3 hours between towns in some areas, and dont expect to find much night life or such. Th up side is that the better parts of that area are places where everyone looks out for each other, your neighbors willl be as concerned about your kids as you are, and "community" still is a way of life.
Realy good pheasant and quail hunting in that area, and coyote shooting....
A few lakes within an hours drive that have good bass and catfish in them...

Let me knwo when you get in teh area!

they do have a lot of llegals that work in the slaughter houses and it is some of the flatest land that i have ever seen. but it is not that far from colorado, or the little sahara in the ok panhandle. i can think of a lot worse places to live. if you have kids i would check out what shape the schools are in.

Thanks for the feedback. I grew up in a town about the same size, but it was not quite so isolated.

Just wait for the pack houses to start burning hides and such . Then when the wind is just right (an everyday occasion) the smell from the feedlots comes rolling into town , smells soooooooooo goooooooooooood.

Good luck in Liberal.
