Landing with one wing

You guys have to check this out. In my years as an air traffic controller, I have seen some amazing pilots and amazing landings. This one takes the cake. I have never seen anything like this before. Amazing.

That was awesome. I watched that not too long ago on the History Channel. Aviation stories like this never cease to amaze me.
Here is also a good one. I was on the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln ( working the catapults ) when this emergency arose. This was an incredible sight to see firsthand and the skill of this pilot was amazing !!
I switched my radio over to listen to the airboss talk to this pilot .Boss told him he had two choices, either eject by the boat ( and probably lose your co pilot and good friend) or try to land ( highly dangerous and could very well end with both he and the co pilot dead) the rest is history.....

Yep - all i can say is...Wow!

Takes nerves of steel, yet calm as glass. Good thing he didn't know he had no right wing, or psychologically he might never have been able to bring himself to land that aircraft.

I would give a lot of credit to the design of the aircraft and the capability of the fly by wire technology which enabled that aircraft to fly under those conditions. The pilot probably would have ejected as some have suggested had he known of his plight but knowing his aircraft coupled with his skill as a pilot caused him to make the right moves and make history as a result. Thanks for posting this for us.Ron G
