This website is a good one for busting the lies both sides tell>
http://www.factcheck.org/

If there's anything about Kerry's war history it's back in the archives as this was cleared up long ago.

Why is it that the candidates are trying to BEAT eachother instead of just winning?

BIG JOHN

Every mornin' on the Hill you could see him arrive
Standing six-foot-four, weighing one-twenty-five
Kinda' scrawny at the shoulders and lacking a spine
And when he spoke at all, it was mainly to whine.
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John.

Nobody seems to know what's in John's soul
His 'beliefs' are based on the latest poll
Though he'll say what it takes to get your votes
It's the leftist agenda that he really promotes
Big John.

Some one said he came from Boston town
Where he joined the Navy and gained renown
'Earning' three purple hearts and one bronze star The home folks said, "This boy will go far"
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

Then came a day back in '71
When he renounced all the medals that he had won
Then turned against his country and his Navy friends
And sold them out for his own leftist ends
(Big John)

He appeared before Congress and on left-wing talk shows
Giving aid and comfort to America's foes
It was clear to see whose side he was on
Some say he helped cause the fall of Saigon
Big John. (Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John).

He claims to be for the working poor
Yet he owns 5 mansions from shore to shore
He never had to work a day in his life
'Cause he learned it helps to have a wealthy wife!
Big John

Now he wants to be our next President
and Commander-in-chief of those he resents:
The American soldiers who fight and die
To give him the freedom to tell us his lies
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

Thousands have sacrificed their young lives
To help ensure that our nation survives
A vote for Kerry is a slap in the face
To all the brave soldiers that he's disgraced
(Big John, Big John) Big Bad John (Big John)

You know what, That actually fits both the song and the man perfectly, something you can't usually say for those spoofs like that.

I say "Down with John Kerry, but only as far as the rope will let him"

One I can't fail to notice coming into my 10th time to vote for prez is that all there seems to be is each side saying how bad the other is. Why doesn't at least one side point out the good they've done or will do?
In my opinion, once again they're both bad choices.
EXACTLY MY POINT.

I think the blatantly obvious answer to that question is, that a mans history shows how he is apt to react in future circumstances.

As an example; You would not leave a man alone with your young children, if you know he has been convicted of child abuse.

The same thing goes for the people we look for, to provide our leadership in govt. By knowing his past you have a window into his probable future.

What gets me is how some people want to hide Mr Kerry's actions, as if they never happened. You can pull the blinders over your eyes if you want to, but you can't change history by saying it didn't happen.

You can sprinkle rose petals on a pile of dung, but underneath it is STILL, just plain old dung.

I have to disagree with that for the following reason(s):

Does that mean that because G.W. had some alcohol problems now in a drunken stupor will press the button?

Or because he had a driving conviction he'll steer the country wrong?

No, of course not, what we are failing to do is to put events in their proper perspective, and then conclude what one or the other candidate would do in similar circumstances, or at least how the past is relevant to their future undertakings.

I agree with your statement completely. You ARE failing to put things in their proper perspective. To think a driving conviction is in the same ballpark as aiding and abetting the enemy at time of war, is ludicrous by any means.

Kerry turned his back on this country once before, no reason to assume he wouldn't do it again.

As to alcohol in the White House, last time I checked it was STILL legal in this country.

Being a Vietnam vet what really bugs me about Bush's service record is that the taxpayers spent over a million dollars on his fighter jet training then he lets it go nil by not showing up for a required physical. His excuse was his doctor was in Texas and GW was in Alabama. Turns out he couldn't have used his personal Texas physician due to regulations anyway and there were three at the base he was stationed at that he could of used. Another discrepancy that bugs me is that in his 1999 autobiography GW plainly states the reason he didn't show up for the physical was because "he was tired of flying".
If this is any indication of his respect for the taxpayer's hard earned dollar then it's no wonder we are facing a deficit that our great-grandchildren will be paying off.

Little of your argument makes any sense to me what so ever, as a former Veteran, you should understand that if they had decided to send GW in to combat, it wouldn't matter a bit whether he was tired of flying or not. He would HAVE to GO!

As to the physical business, all that comes down to is grasping at straws. Again if they wanted him, He would have to go , plenty of doctors between here and the combat zone.

He did his time and was not called up for active duty, don't know about the rest of you guys, but the military I was in made the decisions not me

On the deficit aspect of your argument, the country I live in, had a huge deficit LONG before GW ever got involved, I guess all those other guys in front of him, didn't do nothing

Kerry's past bothers me, but the main thing is how he stands (or ducks) the issues.

1. Gay marriage- You are either for it or against it. There is none of this I'm kinda for it stuff.
2. Abortion- I've always thought the gov. shouldn't be involved until I started back to Church. It's not right and if you vote for a man that thinks it is you will answer for it. I don't think saying "well he promised us jobs" is going to do much for the "heat"!
3. Ron Reagan- Speaking at the DNC. He is a professed atheist. Does this tell you the direction the democratic party is taking?
4. Gun control- To some this may not matter, but to me a man that is for gun control will not get my vote.

And when they call Ted Kennedy the conservative senator from Mass. that really worries me!

I do no think so Lary. It appears to me that your hatred of Kerry far outweighs even your likeness of GW. The fact that you do support GW is certainly you right for which you and all who served and serve fought and will fight. Further more dedication and support out of conviction is the best we can do for any cause, but zeal born out of hatred leads to zealotry. I do not need to go further as to where that leads.
For whatever it is worth, I did not post initially as a support for Kerry, just merely to point out that sometimes actions are taken out of their proper context. And yes, I think that expressing your views on an issue does not make you a traitor. We could debate the merrits of that conflict and the actions by all concerning it at a diferent time.

I will say it again, we could do far better if we expressed the good aspects of the candidates we support. Seeing that, we may even convince those who do not see that good, to support "our" side. Bad mouthing name calling only leads to kneejerk backlash, harldy helpfull to anyone.

I agree with that statement, however we are not talking about someone who expressed his opinion on a subject, we are talking about an individual who turned his back on his country and his fellow soldiers. Then made it is life mission to help the enemy.

If this had been done during WWII he would have been tried as a traitor and executed. It is OK to have a differing opinion, how you act on it is the question.

Perhaps if Kerry had been forced to live in the real world and actually work for a living...things may have been different. Hard to see life as it actually is from the backseat of a Limo all the time.

I think the majority of the Professional politicians, all live in a dream world anyway, they talk about the difficulties raising a family in this country, as they float around on their luxury yachts.

We could solve a good deal of our problems if we merely elected common people to represent us. They understand that things like health care and a safe place to raise their family are the most important things in life. And that security comes from diligence, not appeasing the enemy.

As to me being a Zealot in my hatred toward Kerry, I doubt that seriously, but I will admit to painting Jane Fonda's face on a ground hog, prior to squeezing the trigger a few times

I respect your opinion, but I humbly disagree. I would not wish any harm to Mr. Kerry or his family, I would feel safer if he were not working in government service though.

Well, here is a novel approach---------------Try telling everyone how good your candidate is INSTEAD of how bad the other guy is.
