Just curious

Does anyone know what 'ISC, ISM, ISX' and any other Cummins designations mean? I poked around the Cummins website for awhile and found nothing.

I've wondered about this but keep forgetting to ask!

Interact system "x"

For instance on our engines, the ISB is known as the Interact System B. What the "Interact System" is, I do not know.

Basically interactive (programmable) engine management system. We can play with it.

Got to see some of the coolest stuff when they were testing the electronic class 8 truck engines. Talk about interactive, talk about fun, talk about a test driver turning the air blue when he suddenly loses a couple cylinders, or they re-map the power curve just as he hits a hill, or or or

wonderful stuff

Cummins also had the "QSx" Series...Quantaum System. We used QSC8.3's and a few QSM11's in combines. Don't know the difference in "ISx" and "QSx," but the QSC's were still being built as of November!
