Hoss ... what about buying alchohol free beer ?? At least you would still have some flavor to marinade with.

Not quite that strong ... but pretty close. It's just a completely different taste ... hard to describe. Don't bother trying a St. Pauly Girl beer, that isn't even close.
I always thought that I really liked the taste of our beer, and then I had this stuff . Kinda like going from driving an AMC Gremlin to a Lamborghini. There are large particulates floating in the Hefeweisen beer, kinda like they forgot to strain it before they put it in the bottle ... but MAN IS IT GOOD !!! It'll put a strain on the waistline in a week !! Most of the young ladies here have cute little beer guts !! (trust me, it looks good on them !!).

The brats are incredible too. There are soooo many meat shops here (three within 4 blocks of my house) and they all process their own versions of sausages, brats, wursts, deer, boar, salami etc ... I wish I could smuggle some back with me. Ever had a slice of bologna with a boiled egg inside ? How about lunchmeat that has 3 different kinds of meat the shape of a teddy bear or a Christmas tree inside ?? Your kids would want you to make their lunch every day !!

Oscar Mayer needs to get busy !!

View count well over 600!!!
I'm still hungry for some good brats and brews... Makin' plans to take care of that tomorrow night... Does anyone have a good hi-res pic of some brats sizzling on the grill to post? That ought to be the last straw for those on the fence...
Shiner has begun producing some specialty seasonal brews and one good one I sure like is their DunkelWeizen. I hope they actually plan on producing that year-round... Still got several left in our 'fridge today... I hope...

Shiner Beer: Still brewed by squareheads for squareheads...

Another good way, when the weather is too ruff to grill. Throw them in a skillet with some fresh onions, saur kraut, mushrooms, and I like green peppers. Put a lid on, turn occasionally and keep the stuff from burning to the pan. When done, throw 'em on a bun and smother with the onions and everything... and some mustard. A store close to me makes homemade potatoe brats I pick up all the time...omg.

Allright, ain't gonna let this thread die yet. It was hard to pour a Shiner Bok in a sauce pan, but I did and got some brats starting to boil. And the grill is hot.

I didnt want to read this thread becuase I knew I would get hungry and have to eat again
Time to make my sandwich-
1. take a half pound of burger and 2 brats (or pork sausage) and grill the way you like (I like medium rare for burger and dark brown for the brats)
2. find the biggest bun you can
3. put a slice of cheese on the bottom section of the bun
4. put burger on
5. another slice of cheese
6. stack the 2 brats on top
7. another slice of cheese
8. lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and a little thousand island dressing on top
On the side I like bush's bold and spicy baked beans
Mmmmmmm........tasty

Walking thru the grocery store, this thread got me, too, and I picked up some of the beef brats...

I guess I would have to say that I prefer the traditional type.
