The worst car I ever owned was a Toyota. Had the lemon law process started. Decided to divorce the Mrs and got rid of the Toyota and the tramp! The most reliable vehicle I ever owned was an Isuzu P'up diesel. Just a little over 300k when I traded it for a Ford. Just a little over 28k when I traded the Ford for a Dodge Cummns. I'm on my 4th... My new Mrs had a Subaru when I met her. I hated that pile of rubbish. I spent way too many weekends working on it when I'd rather be playing. Aside from a ball joint replaced under warranty, her '01 Durango has been 100% perfect. Aside from a vibration, my '03 DC has been flawless. I don't think a Tundra would tow my 10,400 lb 5th wheel...

This isn't at all bad. We (USA) continue to catch up to the Japanese vehicles, who aren't exactly standing still. Quoting from the article,

"The Domestics are putting their money where their mouths are in terms of consistent long-term quality improvement," said Joe Ivers, partner and executive director of quality/customer satisfaction at J.D. Power and Associates. "However, while the Domestics continue to outpace the Europeans in long-term quality, the Japanese continue to dominate."
I must say, my 04.5 Quad Cab isn't nearly as well built as my buddy's 04 4Runner, but he can't tow 10,000 lbs either. Japanese cars are well built but as I pointed out to him, you pay for it as well. His 4Runner cost him $39,000 to my $34,000 CTD, and his engine warranty expires 64,000 miles earlier than mine. That extra $5,000 buys a whole lotta maintenance.
