Red face I've Got A Secret That I Have To Get Off My Chest!

Ok. I've got a secret that I need to tell all of you. This may disturb a few of you, so brace yourselves please!

Ready? Ok...here goes (taking deap breathes and trying to pull myself together)...

I don't own a Dodge Diesel truck!....I own a 1999 Powerstroke...Please don't click the back button yet!

You might be wondering why I would join this site? There's a couple reasons so here's the deal. I created a website for all diesel owners. My site specializes in advertising only diesel trucks for sale. The sacrafice with starting this site was that I've had to pour a lot of my own money into developing it and it's not done yet. I am now faced with the real possibility of having to sell my Powerstroke in order to continue developing the site.

When my Father got wind of this he immediately said that I should look into buying a Dodge Diesel when I'm in the position to buy a truck again (He's a little biased because he works for the #1 Dodge Dealership in the US). I am not one of those guys who stick with a certain brand truck just because. I drive a truck based on my experience with it.

I love my Powerstroke and ideally would like to keep it and buy a newer diesel truck down the road. I have thought about a Cummins for awhile, and hearing all the good things people have to say about them, it's hard to not consider a Dodge Diesel when the time comes to buy another truck.

Regardless of whether or not I have to sell my Powerstroke, I am determined to do some thourough research on the Dodge Diesel while I'm waiting to get in position to buy another truck. So, please...I would REALLY appreciate it if you guys could do your best job of selling me on a Dodge Diesel. I'm especially interested to hear from those that have owned both a Powerstroke and a Cummins.

Also, when you get a chance stop by my website and tell me what you think. I would appreciate all of your feedback both good and bad! Please feel free to submit suggestions as to what features you would like to see that aren't currently on the site or how I could improve the site.

The url of my site is http://www.dieseltraderonline.com

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing your input on both subjects!

Best Regards,

Jerod Watson

must have - he has "advertiser" under his name

anyways, do we have a "sponsors" page that lists all [B]our sponsors/advertisers?
i've been buying a few things lately, was trying to find DPPI, had to search awhile till found his URL
http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com/
as an FYI

I need some stock running boards, and don't want to pay full MSRP.

i know some of the Harley dealers do 20% off MSRP for "internet only" orders to rack up business, and get around charging full MSRP.

i was thinking Lou Fusz dodge does that for us,
http://dodge.fusz.com/
is that true???

I have owned both makes. I had a 2001 Powerstroke and loved it. It was a great truck with a great engine. The transmissions left a little to be desired but al in all it was a great truck.

The cummins is better if you ask me. The way it applies the power is totally different than the powerstroke. I will always have a cummins from now on. Any specific questions, feel free to ask me.

I couldnt agree more. I have always liked International's engines (still IH to me ), but the '365 (6.0 PSD) has had a few developmental probs, injectors especialy I hear.

Ive run a few 444's (7.3L PSD to you) and they seem to have some ****, but the cummins B's make such a smooth delivery, and you ust cant beat the flat tourque curve of the ISB's. The power is always ther when you want it. A Cummins would be a very good choice for your next engine.

Dont forget the Lil' cummins typicly gets much better fuel milege, too.

Yeah, the Powerstroke tranny falls short a little bit. I've personally never had a problem but I've heard of a ton of people who have. Does the Cummins tranny have any known problems?

Also, I love how durable the body is on the Powerstroke...How does the Cummins compare?

Thanks.

The new 48RE is supposed to be the cat's EDIT, assuming you gus are of the automatic persuasion. I like gears, but Ive recently replaced the "5th gear nut".

My soon to come work truck should be an F-550. we'll see how well the slush box holds up......

my 98 (as equiped in sig above) gets thrashed on the weekends and does mid to upper teens, usualy with a trailer.

the work truck (sig and avator) is consistently 14-15, pumping too much fuel and suffering my very heay foot- and pushing that box through the air.

I've not herd milage for newer engines, my uncle's '93 7.3L natraul is lucky to get 14 coasting on the freeway.

On a side note, my counterpart at work gets 10-11mpg in the 4500 chevy, 6.0 D-max.
Due to EPA, the newer the engine, the less mileage you should expect ( a '91 ram is usually good for at least 20mpg even with auto)

If you have the 7.3 do not sell!!!

Otherwise forget about the Ferd line!

Cummins has it beat hands down handeling, torque, suspension, tow rating(out of the box). Mods on a Cummins are pretty cheap and NO exploding motors is pretty much the norm here!!! (Powdered metal connecting rods )

Besides you already have DTR support what more can you ask for??

Rick

I do have the 7.3...Why do you say do not sell? Also are you saying that the Cummins or the Powerstroke has the powdered metal connecting rods?

The 6.0 does. As far as I know the 7.3 uses forged rod, and the Cummins does too.
