iPhone

Anyone on here planning on trying to get one on release?

It looks like a cool little device, not something I want, but neat none the less.

I'll be interested to see how their touch screen interface works out. The commercials show it to be pretty simple, but I have my doubts. My 8525 has touch screen as well, but you have to use the stylus to get any kind of accuracy. I can't imagine all of their screen buttons being big enough to use by fingertip, especially an on-screen keyboard.

I have a Treo 680, and with the touchscreen and the 5-way button it is pretty quick and easy, but I cant imagine it without the pad. Especially for reading documents or webpages.

I think it's going to be the cause of many more negligent driver vehicle collisions (notice I DIDN'T call them accidents)

Keys on a 'Normal" cell phone can be manipulated without having to stare at the phone.
Touch pad controls will makes users take their eyes off the road while they dial, answer, surf the net, or watch a video on their new electronic toy.

I wouldn't mind having one but I don't want one enough to pay whatever it is they're going to charge for them. If an iPod is $250 then I'm guessing the iPhone is around $400 or so...maybe more.

$500 or $600 depending on how much storage you want.

Not to mention the monthly cost for the service.
I heard something on the news the other night that it was something like 100
bucks a month for it.

Only $20? They must be letting them get by with the standard unlimited data plan. When I got my phone, it was classified as a PDA so I had to get the PDA Data Connect plan which is $40 for unlimited access. I figured the iPhone would be the same since it has a built in browser.

Thats what I thought it was going to be too but it looks they are trying to make it more consumer-friendly.. They can charge what they want. LOL

If my company didn't pay for my cell phone bill, I might be a bit upset about getting charged $20 more a month than an iPhone user....but till then, oh well.

You are in for two grand for the first two years of service plus the cost of the phone. That's a high price to pay for fashion..
