Inverter

So some of you know my Ipod and inverter and LCD screen were stolen from my truck on Monday night.

What inverter should I get to replace the one I had. I'm looking to spend 2-300 on it, but would love any and all suggestions. Links, photos, what it will power, all good things!

Thanks!

I've had really good luck with my Wagan. It has good fuses so if you get a surge or something or connect it backwards in the dark <cough> you can just replace the fuses and it's good to go. I think that they sell them at harbor freight.http://www.wagan.com/htmls/powerinv.html

I'd have to dig for it. Haven't used it in awhile. I think that it was a 750 watt. I always wished that I had bought a 1000 or 1500. I used it to power drills, sawzall, computer, printer etc. I used it a couple of times to power my model 77 skilsaw. The skil ran a little slow and would trip the breaker on a long cut. Just crosscutting a 2x4 was fine but it wouldn't rip. I think that I got mine at harbor freight. I've used it a couple of times to power a grinder now that I think of it. I service a mini storage facility and sometimes the higher security locks can't be cut with the bolt cutters. If I can't pick the lock I drill it or cut it off with a 4 inch grinder.

Here it is. I dug it out. I thought that it was a 750 but it turns out only to be a 600.

[IMG][/IMG] This one I found on a job where I was doing some hauling from an old house. I haven't been able to find any information on it but it's a true sine wave. I'm not sure what the output is. Maybe someday I'll test it.

so you connect it each time you use it?

I'm looking to keep mine connected so I can just turn it on when I need/want it to run the tv/dvd.

Yes I do because I don't use it that often. It can easily be wired direct to the battery cables and mounted.

I was just thinking... if you are only going to use it for the tv/dvd this baby might be the ticket for you. I bought this at home depot for $89.99 and I use the heck out of this thing. It's a jumpstarter, inflator, worklight, and 400 watt invertor with it's own battery and will charge from a 120v extension cord or from your cigarette lighter. It might do just what you want and also be practical for other uses.
