Interview Question

So, without lying, how do you tell your boss you need a day off for an interview in the middle of the week (assuming you don't want him to know you're interviewing)??

Tell him you want a day off.
What you use it for is YOUR business.

I agree. Just tell him that you need a day off. If he asks why tell him that you have a bad case of explosive diarreha.

Ed's exactly right, speaking as someone who approves days off. I wouldn't ask why, just tell you whether it was ok or not.

Of course, everyone on my staff is looking for another job because our employer hates its employees so much, so they'd probably tell me anyway.

PTO = PERSONAL Time Off. None of his business.
(After the interview and expected offer, you can tell your boss you have been given another opportunity and see if they will match it.)

Today is my last day @ my current job that I have had for 4 years. I have been driving 100 miles a day for that long. I got a job thats 10 minutes from house, doing the same thing, for more money. I start monday, the 30th.

When I went for my interview, I told my boss I had some business to take care of. He said..."ok", see ya monday. I didnt lie, so I didnt feel bad.

Good luck Hoss.
Later.
Phillip.

Truthfully, I think I started this post more because I was bored than because I really needed someone to tell me what to say. It's a slow day. Besides, I assumed your answers would be somewhat entertaining. **** cataracts.

Anyway, I generally feel like I need to give some sort of reason for wanting a day off. My thought was that I'd just tell him that something came up and I needed to go out of town to take care of some family business....which is entirely true since I'm doing this for my family.

Palmetto, congrats on the new job!!

Personal Day

Just tell him you want a Personal day, they can't ask why.

Of course if he asks why just tell him you have a feeling something bad is gonna happen tomorrow at work and you prefer to stay home, that will deffinatly raise some questions (and get you the day off)

Just follow the boss in the bathroom ... and then wink at him.

Guaranteed as much time off as you want and it won't upset him when you tell him about the new job !!

See?? What would I do without DTR??

By the way, Pistol, our "bathroom" is a port-o-john. I can barely fit my big ole' self in there. Trying to fit TWO people in there is absolutely out of the question.
