Interesting new training "weapon".

Winnipeg entrepreneurs Rory Bochinski and Jeff Quail joined forces in 2004 to create Shocknife: a device that delivers an electrical jolt to simulate a slashing sensation to the flesh. The charge is adjustable, creating a feeling as minor as a paper cut all the way to a severe laceration. Fear of pain causes trainees to react authentically, preparing them for real-world encounters, minus the injuries.

Law enforcement and military trainers across North America have readily adopted Shocknife’s new standard for edged-weapon self-defense training. Sales have extended to 15 countries, including the United States, Britain, Australia, France, Mexico and Germany.

“Shocknife is a revolutionary product that adds a level of realism we cannot replicate with traditional weapons as training devices,” says William R. Daniel II, a major in the U.S. Army.

After launching Shocknife in November, 2004, Mr. Bochinski and Mr. Quail anticipated a high demand for training with their device and in 2006, they founded Setcan, the umbrella company under which they sell both the training and the props. Since 2008, Setcan has seen a four-fold increase in revenue from instructor-level programs, with Winnipeg becoming a recognized centre for this specialized market.

Their are several groups out there training with these. Every year the Suarez International group gunfight against other groups like the Dog Brothers to test out each others tactics to see what works and what doesn't. Pretty cool videos and great training.
Just google dog brothers or suarez.

Claude, shame on you. Don't you know that terrorists and assorted other bad guys have their rights. Abusing of their - ahem - privates, is offensive to Pelosi and her kin.
On the other hand, great idea!
Anybody ever tell you that you have a devious mind?

Why do I want to feel being cut?(I have already experienced that). I don't care about learning the pain evolved in being shot either. I think you either have the instinct to survive regardless of pain or you wilt. Seems like a useless infliction of discomfort. I don't get this allowing yourself to be shot (with a vest), or have the sensation of being stabbed ( really not that painful if the knife is sharp, or being Tarazed.

It just gives you a little wakeup like from a handheld taser. The guns they use are Glock replicas firing airsoft pellets. They sting when they hit you but not that bad. We used to play tag in the office with the handlheld tasers. Pretty fun except when you're on a call and taking a timeout and someone hit your hamstring. Your heal kicks your butt so fast and hard before you even know what happened. We just had two rules, nothing above the neck and no privates.
