so 1.7 ton of wood is equal to a 1 ton of coal?

Well, thats pelletized wood not cord wood.

Lately, I have been wondering why there isn't a push for biomass electric generation lately. Im mean, I watch the news and see all the downed limbs, grass clippings, and other biomass that just gets buried in landfill or composted at the landfill/transfer station.
