Re:Inflated Heads

Your truck must have given my truck the clutch slipping disease. Mine is in critical condition. All I have to say about that other thing you mentioned is, TO EACH HIS OWN. This is civil compared to that other testosterone filled website where you have to have a set amount of hp and money to fit in and I'd personally like it to stay that way.

Re:Inflated Heads

I think part of the problem stems from there are posts on here full of good technical info that comes from experience and true knowledge and is dismissed. Sometimes people dont read a whole post or the original topic and pop in to rip off at the lip without knowing and go on to make smart remarks. This is generally welcome if it is simply comic retoric between friends, however I have noticed in many cases of posts sent in totally ignoring the quality info posted here. Acknowledgement of ones expertese creates respect and if humor is added in on tastefully then it becomes accepted. Iam not saying that we all will agree but every sentence said has some value, this is so evident on many topics here like oils, winter prep, driving styles and yes clutches. Personally I find both sites to be fairly close as most of the users here have been on both sites and don't change here or there. I spent 26 years driving trucks, equipment, working in and out the bush on mountain and frozen ice roads. I met a man recently in Edmonton who amazed me and without reservation helps others heal their wounded B Cummins, his knowledge of these little engines is astounding. But ladies and gentleman I dont think I would want him coaching me down a mountain road overloaded with logs on, he hasn't been there. Point here is we all can draw from some else with an open mind and filter out what we dont want by researching the facts. Experiences with emotional off topic retorts don't help people in need, where I live a lot of the work we did until the last 3.5 years was out on your own and this info could save a life. Those who post comprehensive material for others to use want to help not be abused. Sorry for a negative twist on a beautiful Saturday morning but the original post is correct somebody has to say this stuff. PK

Is it me or does there seem to be some largely inflated cranial cavities around here lately. :

Lots of really big talk going on, and it's starting to remind me of some other place I know. :'(

Re:Inflated Heads

Hey guys, this IS America. 99% of us like a good joke and keep things civil. The staff here are pretty adament about keeping things in line. I have plenty of friends and came here strictly for the info (I learned alot and have a long ways to go). In the mean time I have become secure enough with these people to meet them soon. I don't take that lightly either, 8 yrs law enforcement/ 8 years military. Not everybody has the skill to get their actual feeling or point across on a computer screen and might get taken out of context. Also, the bigger the sight gets, the more opportunity for disaster, but most are willing to help the staff. I think if Jack didn't want us poking at each other a little, he'd put in a spell-check . Anyway, maybe the weather has us a little grouchy, this sight is a good cure for cabin fever. Have a good weekend and merry Christmas.
Don

Re:Inflated Heads

Darrell,

I don't want to start anything cause I didn't start this thread, BUT, why do you insist on ragging on the the "other site" :?

Not sure who your refering to about inflated heads? I don't think I have an "inflated head", but I'll admit, like others here, I speak my mind, but, I know what I know, as fact and not quessing. I do alot of R&D, and try many, many products, and do ALL my own work, every bit. I know what works, and what works for me, and I'm not ashamed to tell people about it. If thats a bad thing, I didn't force you, or anyone else to read my posts/threads. Good things come out of "inflated heads" clashing. If I wasn't one the "inflated heads" you were refering to, ooops.

Later, Rob

BTW, Great post P Kennedy

Opinions are always welcome here but attitude is not!!!

Nobody at DTR will support anybody who Rags on anybody other than in a friendly manner between friends. Feel free to speak your mind as long as you do it in a courteous manner.

Re:Inflated Heads

I could not agree with you more PK. These individuals who come here only to insite unrest will be dealt with.

For the record, DTR is not in competiton with TDR nor do we want to be. We think both sites have a lot of great stuff to offer, each has it's own way of presenting it's content and the user can make their own judgements.

We will however not tolerate those who come in here just to cause trouble. There is a very big difference in providing ones opinion and personnally attacking a member or members opinions. It is good to have conflicting ideas and nobody can be right 100% of the time.

If you feel the need to come here and create trouble, don't bother you are not welcome here.

If you wish to contribute in a respectful manner you will be treated the very same way.

Re:Inflated Heads

I have to jump in here,I have noticed in some posts, friendly needling. In some others, strongly opinionated responses. Me personally I find the site very informative, and don't want to see bickering between members. As I have experienced in real life, when more people get involved, you will always have personality conflicts. You guys seem to be a pretty tight knit group, which is good because you can poke fun at each other and not let it get out of hand. Not everyone is like this and you are to be commended for your conduct. let's not let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. Being a recent member, I have not yet had a bad experience on this site. I hope in the future it will be the same. thanks for listening, I'll get off of my soapbox now.

Re:Inflated Heads

I think that with the ever rising member base here as well as the quality and quantity of knowlege these people bring, there are going to be disagreements. Some of these guys obviously spend hours upon hours R&Ding products trying to get the upper hand on the next guy. Isn't that what competition is about... WINNING. These trucks are toys to some and work trucks to others- Seems to me that most guys that drive these trucks aren't hurting for money and are willing to spend thousands on an allready expensive vehicle to make it perform better. I think the guys that have already spent the money on a product and give an honest opinion about it's performance for a specific application are actually benefiting everyone who is a CTD enthusiast even though some seem to be more passionate than others. Some posts get out of hand for sure, but I for one have learned a lot from these guys and hope they stick around ;D
