As many rounds per minute as they put out, it would appear so... Usually it's every 5...

Miniguns fully get it.

That's awesome. Why can't they show that on the news? How does a tracer round work? Is it some kind of chemical reaction that lights up when it gets heated up?

4 ball (full metal jacketed) round to 1 tracer ratio is pretty much standard issue (So, for every one you see, there are 4 more also going downrange). Tracers use in addition to a lead core, a stronium nitrate additive in the base of the bullet itself. The powder burning provides the heat to ignite the S.N. once the bullet leaves the barrel and is exposed to oxygen. They burn fairly consistantly out to 900m. Also do an excellent job of starting fires. At my last base, we were running a class of M249 gunners thru and a tracer burned about 10 acres of dry grass. -Steve

Nope....the hearse was crushed along with a couple of propane tanks in a car crusher.

That was a Dillon Aero video, so it's possible that you're seeing 100% tracers there. That's not usually what you see though.

M134D MINIGUN

• Currently in service with US Military Forces
• Fixed rates of fire of either 3,000 or 4,000 shots per minute
• Chambered in standard 7.62 X 51 NATO ammunition
• MEAN TIME between stoppages: 30,000 rounds
• MEAN TIME between failure: 500,000 rounds
• Dillon Aero designs emphasize high durability and long service life, enhancing the weapon's low cost of ownership
• The Dillon Aero M134D Gatling Gun delivers the same high rounds per square meter as the original design. No single barreled NATO machine gun can match its performance
• Dillon Aero magazines are available in 1500, 3000, or 4500 round capacity. Patented interior configurations make the magazines easy to load and jam resistant. Dillon Aero can respond quickly to a customer's need for custom magazines that hold a maximum number of rounds in the space available.
• The Dillon Aero M134D will meet all specifications for airworthiness
• Dillon Aero offers custom designed mounts for most aircraft, vehicle, or vessel. (No charges for non-recurring engineering.)

The Dillon Aero Model M134D Gatling Gun is a six-barreled, externally powered machine gun based on the GE Minigun design. Most Dillon M134D parts are backward compatible to older miniguns and are available as upgrades.
