I'll second that, especially in schools and college dorms. Well not all college dorms but most.

That school fire I mentioned was a mother! Roofers (surprise!) were welding and caught the insulation on fire. No biggie right? WRONG! Three Alarms, over 100 personnel, a Ladder and Engine Strike Team and over 12 hours to tap the fire.

It was a new school, under construction. The roofing material was made up of 18 gauge steel sheeting, a foam barrier, plywood decking, 4" foam insulation, another layer of plywood sheeting, another layer of steel sheeting and then drywall. All screwed in place every square foot. Add to that high temps and humidity and that equals crews getting their butts kicked! Oh what a bummer I was on a Kelly Day!

My crew took me on a post fire tour today, no wonder everyone was a little sore.

Be safe!

Marty

Don't know if you guys have heard yet but the US House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed HR 980 which is the IAFF's top legislative priority, the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2007 -- which guarantees collective bargaining rights for every fire fighter in the nation. THIS IS AWESOME!!! Congrats go out to our Legislative team and we hope to keep the ball rolling and get this signed into law.

It's about time.... Won't go into the political aspect of this though....

Glad to see someone brought up this thread.

I'll chime in. I'm in Henrico County. Just outside of Richmond Virginia.
