Wow! Talk about lucky.
Here is another video of something that happens all the time.
Now looking at this video, I think that the firetruck had the red light and should have stopped before crossing traffic. At least that is how we do it here. You MUST come to a complete stop, account for all lanes of traffic, and then proceed though a red light. Just because you have your lights and sirens going does NOT give you the right of way (even though it does burn my... rear when people don't pull to the right
).
On a side note... The truck in the video is the exact make of Truck that I am assigned to.

bad day right here. this is why you need to be careful at intersections when running code 3, you never know who you may end up hitting.
from the pictures it looks like the Sheriff truck was code 3 and the Fire equipment truck (not code 3, no lights mounted on truck) was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and was the unlucky one.
ps. can some one imbed this for me?

I saw this one when I was looking at the one I posted. I agree, he should have stopped, no excuse for it. Nice piece of apparatus Britt.
We were been busy up here boys, had a boiler over fuel itself and start a basement fire, (my favorite
) then at the same time we caught one in a sub basment of a power plant that went to a general alarm immediately, (I love stretching 2 1/2" attack lines
), (constuction workers using torch's). Then another one last night, a home owner did a poor patch job on a chimney repair, it broke through into the walls of a triple decker home, not a single smoke detector in the entire house, his door bell wire was in the wall close to the fire place and shorted causing the doorbell to ring like crazy, that was there only warning, VERY lucky family, spent 3 hrs pulling plaster and lat walls chasing it down.
I think he's gonna be screwed with his home owners insurance, we trashed the entire second and third floors chasing this fire down, and with no smoke detectors, uh-oh.

I hope this pace does not keep up for the whole winter.
Everyone stay safe, and have a great hoilday season.

I'm jealous, mid to low teens at night, and anywhere from mid twenties to thirties during the day. My folks were up from Cleburne Texas last week, they could'nt wait to get back home.

Well I'll tell you one thing for sure. The LEO's are doing a job that I personally would never want to do and I have the utmost respect for them. I have a healthy respect for fire but I am terrified of a bullet coming in my direction. I have been shot at a couple of times and it was pretty intense to say the least. Funny thing is, most of the officers that I talk to on a scene say that they would never want to do our job.
It has been pretty dead around here for the last couple of shifts. Been making a bunch of runs but not much too them. I found a small camera the other day to mount on my helmet. It records to an SD card and I think it will be pretty cool to take into a fire for a first person perspective. Maybe after Christmas I will have some extra money and pick one up. Anyone else ever use something like this?

I have never seen one personelly, but I think that would one hell of a video to watch after the fact. They must be kind of pricey?
I thought it was in the sop's to make fun of the cops?
j/k
We work great with our LEO'S, and I agree, I would not want to do it for a living. I get a good taste of their side of the street every time the ERT team heads out, that's enough for me. A thankless job and EVERYONE you deal with hates you. nuff said.

Actually the price isn't too bad ($129) but my main concern would be the durability. It is made out of heavy duty plastic but we all know what happens to plastic in some of the conditions we get ourselves into.

thats how he can get away with it without fear of retaliation
. As far as the camera goes, that sounds really cool, give us a link to one so we can check it out. That would really cool to get some footage on the fire scene.
I got to the station this AM and the shift before us passed on that they had 5 structure fires yesterday
Don't get that very often around here. All of em in the day and 3 of them back to back. Its COLD and drizzley here today, so I hope we can stay in house.

...and were usually in better shape and round isnt the shape im talking about
