Like I said, I'm not really sure about the durability under the extreme conditions that we get ourselves into but for $130 it sounds pretty cool. I like the idea of recording to a SD card. Makes transferring to a computer much simpler. The only other problem that I can see is that I would have to edit out most of the audio because of language.

RONTFLMAO, I been caught several times, then when we get back into the station and start repacking all the apparatus, one of the alarm room operators decides to be a funny clown guy and replays the audio on the station audio system, over and over again. LOL,

Two of the guys at my station have them and have some pretty good vi'ds of working fires. Brett you off on Wednesday? I am finished with my promo exam after 0930 and we are going to partake in a lot of cold beer at The Ashford Arms Pub on Dairy Ashford and Memorial. Kinda close to HFD 78's. PM me if you want to come and booze it up with some southwest side FF's.

"If you had only scored higher on the Civil Service exam, you could have been a Fireman"
Well I'll tell you one thing for sure. The LEO's are doing a job that I personally would never want to do and I have the utmost respect for them. I have a healthy respect for fire but I am terrified of a bullet coming in my direction. I have been shot at a couple of times and it was pretty intense to say the least. Funny thing is, most of the officers that I talk to on a scene say that they would never want to do our job.

I thought it was in the sop's to make fun of the cops?

We work great with our LEO'S, and I agree, I would not want to do it for a living. I get a good taste of their side of the street every time the ERT team heads out, that's enough for me. A thankless job and EVERYONE you deal with hates you. nuff said.

That works the other way too tho... when our PD Sergent, (also a volunteer FF), was new and went thru his initial academy training, a few of us got together and sent him a dozen roses and a plastic fire helmet with a red revolving light on top and a siren. He wouldn't talk to us for months because the instructors at the academy made him wear it until graduation!

Well wish me luck boys, Tuesday is the big day. Promotional exam time. I hope I do well after all the reading, highlighting, rereading, test banks, reading, reading, and reading again. Hopefully it has sunk in and I will perform well. The test consists of 25%written over four books, 25% streets test, 25% oral nterview, and 25% practical/tactical. Any tips are always greatly appreciated. This will be for the DO position. The LT test finished up on Thursday and we have yet to hear who was promoted. Their are as of today 11 people taking the test for 5-7 slots. About the videos I wil see if we can't get them on you tube or loaded up on here later, I am off till next Monday, needed time to recoup after the test. Stay safe. BB
good luck. you are your own worst enemy if you get nervous. bottom line...youve studied your tail off, you know the material, now just calm down on test day and nail it!
go over the basics on the pumping portion. can you locate every valve with your eyes closed? every eletrical rocker? dont forget the basics like wheel chocks, and SOGs. dont over think the scenario either. once you have a pattern, dont vary from it, thats when you can forget something basic. are you good with therortical and practical? whats youll minumin line for stand pipe/sprinkler operations...psi? bucket load or tip loads on the ladder while flowing? what are the appliance loss criteria...<350 gpm >350 gpm.
we just had a d/o test a few months ago and while i didnt test, i remember alot of the stuff they were asking...hope some of it helps
