You get a call on your mobile...." Hi This is charlie, ( any name really)..I'm the engineer with the orange ( or other ) network, we appear to be having problems with a transmitter near you. Call us back on this number ********, and we'll check the power etc, it won't cost you anything, Who am I speaking to.?

You say your name, hang up...dial the number.....Charlie answers and says....'thats fine....you have a good signal etc etc' You hang up...

In that few moments they have interrogated your phone, number/sim card/mac code etc...You know nothing about it till you get your next bill.........they use your details/number to dial premium rate/international numbers...costing you a fortune...

Like I say........not sure if its true.........but sounds feasible.........

 

If the individual that scammed/stiffed you is a DTR member, PM the details to Lary and he may be able to look into it. Jack and Lary are very good at getting to the bottom of those kinds of things.

Larry I got those same emails about a rep meeting me to pick up my trailer I put up on CL and sending me a cert check. I got those emails within 30-40 minutes and get 1 every other day. BS IMO. Trying to scam a soldier. I replied before I knew what was going on. Did not give out info thank God. Wife came and said its a scam delete it. Sometimes Im glad she's around. But that was my first dealing with that. So now Im prepared. Think I might turn them into the IG office next week.
