I finally got an interview!!
After applying for jobs since January, I finally got an interview with a place. First good news I've heard back from any of the places. It's a job at the A&M fire field refilling extinguishers. It's not the most glamourous job, but it's outside doing manual labor which is what I enjoy. Plus it pays $8/hr plus overtime and I'm guaranteed at least 40hr a week. I'm so excited I had to tell someone. Wish me luck yall.
Get a haircut, and whipe the milk off your lip. Make yourself presentable(yes, it includes brushing your teeth. Yes'sirs and no'sirs, and make eye-contact. And leave that Ford hat at home.....whoops, i let that slip.sorry BB.
Blue, I don't know if you're just looking for something to pay the bills or if you're looking for a career, but if the fire extinguisher thing doesn't work out for you then you might give Hope Lumber & Supply there on Longmire a try. Talk to Denny Crutcher, Mike Gillespie or Mike Wenzel. I worked there for four years in college in the yard and driving trucks. You'd probably fit right in.

Thanks yall.
Cowhand, I was thinking bout joining precinct 1 volunteer department, but after hearing about the crap the chief pulls, I said screw it. A couple of my buddies are going to the fire school.
Palm, thanks for the tips (although I already knew that). I need to get my hair cut tonight before the place closes.
Hoss, I'm just looking for something to pay rent for the summer and for a little extra spending money (got a truck to BOMB ya know
). I've been unemployed since last August and my account is dry. If this doesn't work out, I'll try the lumber yard. Thanks for the names.
Matthopp, had a friend of mine who drove busses (he's actually a member on the DTR) and he hated it. I had one job I worked at for 3 yrs and I absolutely hated it. Swore I'd never work another job that was that boring.
I'll let yall know tomorrow how it goes. Thanks again everyone.

I had a promotion interview a few months back. I was told by the boss that he wanted me in there and that I was best for the job (everyone told me that too). Anyway, since it's a government type job, a merit commission did the interviews; noone that knew anything about the job. Since I got last place in the interview (I'm very bad at them...it's a wonder I ever got a job), they couldn't promote me. How's that for BS. They were a little upset with me...kinda sucks, but it's my own fault I guess.
Well, I just got back and I feel good about it. It'll be an easy job if I get it. He liked my credentials and the fact that I'd be there every day whenever he needed me for however long he needed me (apparently, that's a problem). Only problem is I have to shave my goatee off. It's some state safety thing. In case I ever have to wear an SCBA mask, it won't seal under my chin. Makes me a little upset but oh well. The guy thinks it's crud as well but what are you gonna do. I'll let yall know how it goes.
That was a goatee? I thought you had fell down in the dirt. FYI, just whipe some milk on you chin, and let you cat lick it off. Should clean it up pretty good.
.
congrats. hope they pick you.
