Oh man, could you imagine what they'd do if there was just a huge mass murder of all the liberal lawyers and judges? Nobody would go to jail! You'd go to trial and the conservative lawyers would look at each other and then at the conservative judge and they'd say, "What are we doing here anyway? OH! I know what we're doing! We're declaring today Liberal Independence Day!"

Lightbulb I don't like the court system

I'm a legal researcher & I can tell you for a fact that there are several good reasons to not like the court system. But if you want to blame anyone for the unfounded high dollar settlements - look among yourselves. It's John and Jane Q. Public who serve as jurors - it's the jurors who decide the fate of a case (until it's appealed). I've sat in vior dire - the process of jury selection. Believe me, it's scary! I recently sat in on vior dire for the trial of a man who is accused of raping his daughter. This is an unfounded accusation that arose as the result of a divorce where Mommy's not getting her way -she even admited to it! Nonetheless, when selecting the jury I could not believe the attitudes that people have about sex, children, discipline, etc.. Thank God I was not the one on trial.

Many people talk about the McDonald's case where the woman spilled coffee on her lap & how stupid it is for her to have sued because it was her own fault. However, if you read the facts of the case, you know that that particular store was warned about their coffee machine, they did not fix it, the Plaintiff in the case ordered the coffee which was so extremely hot that when the drive through worker handed it to her, the cup literally melted in her hands and scalded her hands, breasts, belly & lap w/ permanent scarring. Wouldn't you sue, too? If your wife's breast were permanently disfigured by McDonald's I know you'd sue, too. You see, the media is the other problem - they only told you the sensational part - McDonald's - suit - spilled coffee - millions of $$$.

The nation is in despirate need of tort reform, but until we do away with greedy lawyers, not the good ones, we cannot do this.

If you hate lawyers, you hate more than half of this great nation's founding fathers, as well as Abraham Lincoln and others who have done great things in the name of freedom for this country in which we so enjoy living & will die fighting for!
