I Don't Know What To Put Here, Random Thought.

i was just thinking to myself about the truck years, and like for example, when we go to the parts store to get something and they say "what year of truck do you have?" and then we say "ah, it's a '97" or "yah, it's an '02" ya know what i mean, so i was wondering, what will happen when the 2010 and up models come out? we'll go to the parts store or b.s.ing it with the guys, and what will we say, "ya my truck year is, a, ummm, '10" or an '11 and so on and so forth. just wanted the DTRers view on this, just a little b.s. thread!

well, I don't think Dodge made a Ram 2500 in 1911, so, if you say "eleven" they'll probably know what you mean

I like how you have to sit there and pause for those guys at the auto parts store. I rattle off something like "I need a belt for a 97 Dodge 3/4 ton with a 5.9 diesel". The guy goes *clickety*, *clickety*, looks at me and says "What year?", then I get to repeat it again, except pausing this time between make, model and engine size. Grrrr...

i know, but i was just saying that it would sound pretty weird to say that the year of your truck is a '10'

I just go through the motions with these guys...or girls. Trust me don't speak too fast or go into too much detail...I thought a guys brain at a hard ware store was going to explode when I got in to too much detail about a repair on my house.

The best is when you have a 74 to 87 chevy, or somthing with 3/4 ton axles on a half ton truck.
"I need a rear diff gasket for a 82 corprate 14 bolt"
"What year is the truck?"
"78 blazer"
"huh???"
After a while I just started memorizing part #'s it was funny at first then it just got old.
Why cant they just give you the part you ask for and be done with it?

No but I wish I was the owner of the one here in town, with the government spending hundreds of millions of dollars in this town, he's making bank...and yes he works there every day...

I kinda like my parts store...they have a file for all us regulars....just walk in a tell them I need a oil filter for my dodge, they pull up my file, find the part I need and print out my reciept.

Well one thing about that is you will not be spending very much unproductive time reading on the throne .
At least if the outhouses up there are as drafty as the ones down here.

thats funny, when I was doing my brakes and upgrading the cylinders, I walked in and said "I need brake pads for a 95 ford F350, shoes for a 95 dodge 3/4 ton diesel, and wheel cylinders for an 86 chevy 3/4 ton" the guy didn't know what the heck was going on. he said dang how many trucks you got? I said one. he was like WTH?

hopefully pretty soon I will be adding stuff like transmission filters for a 06 duramax too.

Just remember,
if ordering frame or body parts for a 2002, tell them it's a 2001.

It will avoid frustration and returns.
