Hellcat,
Finally a car I think I could live with.

Will they be drastically detuned for sale in California?

Now we need to see Vanishing Point- II,
Wonder if Kowalski had a son?

I see no prices listed.

Hah, DH was looking at that last night too. I have a hunch I could get behind a new Challenger.

We speculated $42-60k. I think the new SRTs are like $42-45k or thereabout right now.

It looks sinister like it is posesed.

That would be insane to drive, always loved the sounds of a carbeurated big block Mopar at WOT.

Highway Patrol cars of the late 60's and 70's would make you wet yourself.

It would be fun! While I was at the Dealership the other day they had a prototype 2 door coupe sitting in the showroom. 2 seats, mid engine, V12 chromed out and visible under the back glass, 4 turbos. The sign said 0-60 in 2 seconds, 0-100 in 6?. Top speed something over 200.

My Grandson said he wants two...

Funny you should say that as my dad picked up an ex CHP '71 Polara back in the day with a 383... it was fast.

I had one of those "interceptor" engines in a 65 Dart. Not my wildest ride of my youth, but a good runner up.

Boy, are you guys bringing back memories, especially when you say a CHP car. I was running along in the desert in Cal at about 100 minding my own business which was a million miles away. Suddenly I look in my mirror and here is a CHP on my bumper, no lights on. I just held steady, he passed me, got in front and motioned for me to come on and he took off. I thought, sure, just so you can ticket me at 120 instead of 100. He kept motioning and jumping out, so I kicked it on up. CHP was running those Olds super 88's with the OH valve V8 which were popping up all over then. I knew they tuned them, then took them on a track and they had to top 125 or it was back into the shop. I was interpolating my tack reading best I could and figured we were close to 130. He raised his hands gesturing that is all I have - - then motioned for me to come around. I floored it and blew by him, then slowed down. He motioned for me to pull over - - yeh, here we go - I now get my first speeding ticket. He just wanted to see what was under my hood. I asked him what he was doing when he topped out - - I told him I had him at about 130 by tack - - he said 128. I had a '40 chev coupe. He looked, admired, wanted to know how a Chev inline 6 could do those numbers. Well, it was a bored GMC truck engine with all the goodies and all chromed out. Fun car - - should have kept it. When you are young and stupid who is to know what it could be worth some day?

Anyhow, thanks for the memories.

Bob

I had a 74 plymouth satellite interceptor. Silly gears. 273 rear with an oddball engine combo. 400 cu in with as they say in Plymouth lingo, a six barrel. Six pack for the other Mopars. Harmonics at 150 became a bit unnerving. Like a cement vibrator. 140 was smooth.
Then there was the 68 impala big block.

We used to run a similar set up on a ¼ mile dirt track just a little hot water 6 that would tack 10 grand coming out of the turns. Sounded like a bumble bee .

Had a 69 Charger with a mildly worked over 440 (thermoquad, stock intake, crane RV cam, six pack exaust manifolds), auto 7 271 gears. I'll never forget the time i tried to wind it out. I gave at about 145 when the rear end started to float. Was still gaining speed quite well.

Check out the specs on Hellcat's powerplant.
Awsomeness

http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/...ellcat-engine/

The new twin-screw supercharger, sealed for life with premium synthetic oil, boasts a drive ratio of 2.36:1 and a maximum speed of 14,600 rpm. The 2.4-liter blower features integral charge coolers and an integrated electronic bypass valve to regulate boost pressure to a maximum of 11.6 psi. After leaving the engine, the now superheated gases are directed rearward via a 2.75-inch, straight-through, twin-exhaust system with an electronically controlled valve to control the sound.

Righteous mileage..

The fuel system keeps pace with an in-tank pump that accommodates variable pressures, half-inch fuel lines and eight high-flow injectors that can drain the car’s 18.5-gallon fuel tank in just 13 minutes when the engine is running at full power.

What the speedometer tops out at, 150-200?

Is this going to want to be fed 100+ octane racing fuel?

Jim

Why, did you find that oasis with the Sunoco 260 pumps still installed?

It should just take regular premium 92 octane, the newer stuff is pretty amazing with all of the combustion technology........ a far cry from that old 850 double pumper.

I want one, but I bet you are looking north of 75K for a copy.......
