I completely agree. If it weren't for our veterans and military, we would not live in the best nation in the world.

 

The war actions today showed the greatness of our country. Not only in it's might, but in the humane usage of this awesome power to protect innocent life. Our country's morals and heart is what helped it to become great. I bet that many of the Araqi troops surrendering today were captured in the first Gulf War and had no fear of being mistreated due to their prior treatment. <br><br>This war should serve to reinforce our friends and also cause the thug nations to give though about getting on our bad side. <br><br>Am I proud? You bet!!! <br><br>MNTom, don't sell yourself short. And I say this as a military retiree. Supporting the troops and paying the $ to cover the military cost is also a great service to our country. Not everyone can be in the military because it takes all kinds of occupations to keep our country strong. It is the heart and support that counts.

 

My support and pride can and does go both ways.<br><br>Bottom line: I am proud to be an American!

 

dalton4 I am not trying to sell myself short. I just wanted to say that I am **** proud to be in the company of Vetrans. I realise that it does take a nation to keep us free but I have never been in the position of defending our great country on foreign soil. I have not been in the military and don't expect to (47 yr old, some health issues). BUT I will defend our country right here if needed in any way shape or form.

Alright, let's knock off the c**p, I'm startin' to get misty eyed here. Let's also remember our fallen comrades. There's 57,000 plus that never came home from 'Nam. I'm proud to have put in my 20 and wish I could have known some of you back when. We're all kindred spirits whether we wore the uniform or civvies. If it ever comes to where we have to take up arms in homeland defense, I'm comfortable knowing there's many others around that I can count on to cover my back. Now let's buckle down and let the current generation of soldiers, sailors, airmen, coast guardsmen and marines know that we're da*n proud of them too.
