How's your Bow Season going?

Anyone stuck one yet? I've been jittery for a couple weeks now, went a couple of times with only does around. Got a new farm to hunt this year in addition to the main one, figured I'd just use it to mess around on. Wrong. Went in there last weekend to kind of scout things out, found one area that is smoking hot. Rubs on every little tree, one on about a 7" diameter tree. Big ol beds, couple shed antlers, lots of acorns and hickory nuts, and must be about 1000 turkeys in there too. They must be bald from losing all those feathers. No one has hunted that farm for 3 years (giggle). I picked a tree for my climber and cleared out a few low key shooting lanes, now I'm scared to bowhunt it and mess it up, as our early black powder season comes in around October 19th. I'm gonna go outside and massacre some squirrels with judo points, I just can't stand this waiting. Maybe I'll try to bowhunt the public land. I'm getting to where the smell of scent killer spray gets me excited! Come on, October!

I took my Twin Brother to one of my favorite spots this past weekend and he got to bag a nice 5 pointer. I video taped this hunt for him. I shot a massive 9 pointer out of the same stand last year and could not find it after 100yards of blood???? I now have the itch to bag one with my bow but it will have to wait until next weekend because I have a Bass Tournament this weekend at BuggIsland !

Hey Boostjunkie, thought you NC boys called it Kerr lake, and Virginia folks called it Bugg's Island! My father in law might be fishing there next weekend too.

Our bow season started the 15th I think, whatever that Friday was. I'm gonna wait and hunt hard during the BP season the third week of october, then bow hunt the rut, they don't really care as much if you're in and out of the woods then. I've got a scent lock liner suit and scent lock savannah coveralls this year, plus gloves and a good face mask/hood thing that'll help keep me from burning my stands out too fast, I hope. Only thing that I worry will give me away is my backpack and the stuff in it, like binos, knife, light, grunt tube, etc. Hard to keep that stuff scent free, maybe I'll have to store it in a watertight box in the truck bed or behind the shed. Maybe put some green pine needles in there too. What do you all do with that type of gear?

Kerr Lake- - - Buggs- - -Atlantic- - -whatever you what to call it, I'll be there!! I bet your father is going to be fishing the BFL??????!!!!! I'm really not wanting to fish but my teammate and I are in 2nd place in the standings in our Team Tournaments and I reckon that I will finish off the year with him!! Just remember that whatever anyone tells you, HUNT THE WIND EVERYTIME YOU GO INTO THE WOODS!!! You will absolutly ruin a spot if your not on top of the wind direction. The larger 3-4 year old bucks and the 2-> does will smell you and you will never see them. Now during the rut they could care less that you are there. Expecially the Bucks. My brother shot this buck with his new TomCat by BowTec- - - - -his new saying is that once you shoot a TomCat you will never SWITCHBACK!!!! Get it??? (Matthews SwitchBack!!!!)!! Good Luck on the Deer Hunting this year! Keep us posted on your Hunts and success/misses!!!!!

My boy popped a 4 pointer on opening weekend. He saw 7 deer on Saturday and 6 deer on Sunday along with 10 turkeys but they were all together and he didn't think he could pull back on them without spooking the whole field. Said he had a nice 8 pointer wondering around but it wouldn't come in close enough. Oct 6th is our first gun hunt. It's called the urban season here in Christian County MO and is for does only. I'm almost scared to shoot anything with both of my boys hunting I never know how many I'll have to stuff in the freezer. Good thing the wifey likes it also.

Don't feel bad man, we can't hunt anything on any sunday here, but next door in Dorchester county you can use buckshot and hunt all you want on Sunday. Go figure. At least we can still use a rifle here.

Well I found an answer to my scent-free gear dilema. Found an air tight storage box at gander mountain today, made by scent lock. Has a carbon mesh insert in it that neutralizes odors on items in the box. Also got a big ol jug of scent killer spray, and sprayed down my gear pouch and all the stuff that goes in it, my knee boots, under armor, etc and let everything dry. Put my scent lock clothes and all the other stuff in the box, now I have a deer hunting kit that's ready to go. Even got a little tarp to stand on while I'm getting dressed back by the tailgate, to keep my socks dry. Theres still plenty of room left to stuff cold weather coats and coveralls in.

Oh, man I wish it was deer season. This is killing me.

My boss got one last weekend. 230# field dressed. He got 3 really nice pictures from his hidden tree camera of it on the trail a few days before. It had a double antler on one side ..Crazy looking. But nice deer.

i dont wanna start a debate but scent-lok is a rip off. the activated charcoal they use in their technology can only absorb so much "scent" and once the charcoal is literally "full" its no good to you other than normal clothing. and most of the time the charcoal is full by the time you buy the stuff from the store. the charcoal can be re-activated/renewed but it takes a temperature much higher than your dryer can produce.

some people swear by it but i wont waste my money. ill stick to my very careful washing and air drying of hunting clothes, and i store them in a large rubber maid container full of leaves, plants, dirt from my hunting area. its worked for me. 11/12 seasons ive hunted have been succesful.
