Does carfax tell you the location of a vehicle? I would like to try to find a truck I had before (traded it in) and I am not sure where to start. All the sites I have checked want me to pay for a full report and I don't want to do that at this time if I don't have to. Could somebody run a carfax for me or let me know of a free site to use. I have the VIN.

 

you might be able to call the DMV.

 

I did that today and talked to 4 different people that had no clue. I might try later again.

 

Was it a Diesel or a gasser?

Gasser > Type in the LP# or VIN at DMV's site and you can see where it was last Smogged.

Diesel > Type in LP# or VIN at DMV's site and if you're in a state that requires safety inspections it might show where it was done but I don't know for sure.

 

Here, most DMV records are not available to the public, but it might be different there.

I'd also give the dealer a try. They may be able to show when/where it was last in for warranty, service or recall work.

 

It's a gasser.
The Tx DMV website is a joke. I tried but got no where.

I have seen that one. It is not free though. The free part just tells me the year make and model and where it was built. You need to pay to get more info and I am not that worried about finding it yet to pay for it. Cheap..... butt, I know
