Re:Horses

I really don't have to catch any of ours, they mostly catch me. Guy's this website is my retreat from horses. We got about 60 or so right now and sometimes I get tired of them. The work never stops.

Re:Horses

I need to scan some pics of my moms horse and my sisters horse. Good lookin quarter horses. Sis's horse is 19 months old and stands 16.1 hands at the wither. Mom's horse is 7 years old and only stands 15.2-15.3. Mom's done all the training herself. Here's a pic of our two dogs though. There names are Fred and Barney. Fred is on the left and Barney is on the right.

Re:Horses

Nice horses. My dad lost a mule from having a halter on. The mule got his back foot caught and killed himself. I was at CFD back in 99 it was AWESOME. Planning on going back as soon as our little girl gets old enough to enjoy it. She's 2 now. Was going to put some horse picts on too but couldnt figure out how to do it.

Re:Horses

Don't know anything about horses, but I've heard "gated" is the only type horse to get for "general" riding and fishing trips to the high Uinta mountains here in Utah???

Re:Horses

I used to ride quarter horses but stumbled into a great deal on a couple of Missouri Fox Trotters (gaited) that I could not pass up. Gaited is the best ride for trails, almost as sure footed as a mule. Would not trade or go back 1/4 horse after riding these guys. I use the mule for lion hunts as lions are very difficult to keep up with, even w/ good dogs. Mules will leave horses in the dust on that rough type of terrrain.

Re:Horses

All I can say is I used to be a diehard Ford Fan and A diehard Quarter horse man. Now i have a Dodge and a Walker, I call it personal improvements. ( Now I dont want to start any wars, Quarters are excellent for what they are bred for but I like to trail ride and TWH's were bred to cover alot of ground in a smooth manner and I love it). ;D

Re:Horses

I used to haul horses for a guy that bread Quarter and Paints. Alan had over 60 head at his place and another 20 or so scattered all over the US. : I saw enough horses to last a life time at his place and hualed more horse poo than I care to remember. And then there is the matter of hauling all that dang hay. He bailed 75 acres and still bought hay from local farmers. After hauling and working for him for a year a thought up a name for those critters. :

[glow=red, 2, 300]Hay Burners[/glow]

That's what I still call them today.

Darrell
