Honda Truck
Honda Truck
In the August issue of Car and Driver, there is a "spy" shot of a Honda truck. It it based on the Pilot. It looks like a cross between a Pilot (with the back notched), a Subura Brat (where the bed meets the back of the cab) and an Avalanche (around the wheel wells)
.
I like Honda and their reputation for quality and was hoping they would get in the truck market, but this is not a truck (no V-8 option (or I-6 diesel), no low range transfer case and has unibody construction).

Re:Honda Truck
The Honda "Truck" is actually based of of the Acura MDX platform
). I have seen the Nissan at a truck show and I still don't think it is as big as the full size offerings from Detroit, but it is bigger than the Tundra. The Nissan V-8 will have more HP then the '04 Ford's biggest V-8 and they have a nice looking interior. I think their sales goals are aggressive, but only time will tell.
Re:Honda Truck
I've heard rumors that a Diesel is in the works, but as a 1/2 ton size model mot 3/4 or 1 ton. Nissan is taking the full size very seiously. The Tundra is about to grow a bit for the Crew Cab version.

The Nissan is better in person than most of the pictures show, especially when its in a color other than copper metalic
like most of the press photos I've seen. One of uts down falls I think will be the power window and door lock switch locations. They are located at the window sill perpindicular to the window. If you forget to roll the windows up and it rains they will be soaked.

Re:Honda Truck
What's odd about it is that other than the new Maxima, which is also kinda ugly, Nissan has been releasing a lot of pretty nice-looking designs lately. And then they hired the Aztek team away from Pontiac to do this truck.

Although it shouldn't be too much of a surprise, I guess. Nissan does have some history of truly ugly cars--this is the company that brought us the Datson F10 way back when. Quite possibly the ugliest car ever sold in America: http://www.datsunworld.com/F10/image2.htm

Have not seen an AMC Pacer in the states or Canada for years but where I live there are lots of them still running around. Yes, they still look ugly. How about the Renault 5 or Le Car as it was known in Canada. They were also ugly. Lots of them around here also.
The 6 gasser in the Nissan's is a great engine. I have the Infiniti I30 and love it. Believe it or not but I seriously considered the supercharged Nissan Frontier 4 door before buying my truck. Would have prefered a smaller body with a diesel engine but had to go with the 2500 to get everything I wanted.
