Is that a lawmakers joke? Kind of hard to stand trial if you are dead. I wonder if the same law applies to them?

I applaud your preventive actions (legal or not) to protect your family.
After shooting the criminal-let the dog eat him. Like you said no evidence
Its not just a firearm - in Canada you CANNOT use deadly force of any kind. Of course, its situation dependant and I am not an attorney, but to my understanding the use of deadly force is prohibited. Its shameful to say the least. Be greatful for your Stars (and Stripes)....

alot of people think buck shot is unsafe for home defence. i keep 8 3" mag slugs in mine and have 00 in the side saddle. unsafe i say not true!!! read this http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot3.htm

imho Until someone invents a "Phaser" like on Star Trek, anything that will stop a bad guy, will also penetrate several walls. Birdshot does not excessively penetrate drywall walls. But it does not penetrate deeply enough to reach a bad guy's vital organs. Birdshot makes a nasty but shallow wound. It is not a good Stopper.

"Use Birdshot for little birds. Use 00 Buckshot for bad guys."

I think Texas, Wyoming and my favorite, Montana are all about the same on defence laws. Any means availible, use it in self defence. Guns, dogs, whatever. My wife is our best defence. Very well trainied on shooting her .41 Taurus rev. 1 250g castcore is about all an invader can take. The 300 RUM is a little too big, and she cant shoot the loaded rounds of .44 Too much for her . Pro still the best all round defence weapon is a shotgun. Ya just can't beat it. But seriously, I don't think it would ever get that far at our place. We have 2 blue Heelers that are house dogs, and anyone that knows the nature of a Heeler knows you AINT commen in!

I have used 00 buck in abandoned mobile homes and mocked up homes......it will penetrate through walls. Just don't be lulled into a false since of security.......especially when a family member may be on the other side of the wall.

It's good to know I can go through a wall with 00 buck. I think I'll try to get my hands on some frangibles. They're supposed to pretty much disintegrate going through the second sheet of drywall. Anyone know how they work after going through a leather jacket? (no smilie here, I'm serious).

Yes it is a legal issue. If a lawyer finds out that you have reloaded your ammo, even if it has been reloaded exactly to spec, they can call it custom or 'killer' ammo that you designed to kill an intruder. Once they do that, you can be charged, and forced to defend yourself, on grounds of excessive force, which can lead to second or even first degree murder charges. First degree because you planned the use of deadly ammo which is designed to kill, not defend. According to the NRA you should have your home defense weapon loaded with factory ammo. I use glacier SS and Black Talon's in my forty SW (alternated in the clip). If you do reload ammo, make sure it is kept in a specific, locked location. You can have factory wherever you want. May be extreme measures, but cheap insurance against an ACLU attorney who has his sights set on you. Doesn't matter if they win if you have to sell everything to keep out of prison. Their primary objective; to ruin you, either with prison or financially or in a best case scenario both.

google (Az. vrs Fish), reloads will be the least of your concerns if you are forced to take a life. the rules suck but that's the way it is. for now.

Another questionable one is the use of hollow point bullets. I prefer plain old ball ammo in my .45ACP. Its dependable as all heck!

NEVER use a modified gun of any kind for personal protection.
So does that mean I can't blow em up with my S&W 500??? Why not? I was lookin forward to that JK, but seriously, why can't I use that? I've got it loaded under my bed, along with a glock .40 in the droor of the nightstand, and my 12ga 870 loaded in the closet. Its just whichever one I get to first

Not sure about the laws in AZ, but in WY and TX you do have the right to 'protect' yourself. Again, a lawyer could make the case that you had no intention of just protecting yourself, you intended to 'kill' an intruder. Big difference in the eyes of the law. But again, the issue is if some ACLU jack off wants to drag you though the legal system, the above 'suggestions' keep them from getting very far. You can't think in terms of what is right or wrong, you have to think in terms of what the opposition will attempt to destroy you with. If you have any weapons designed to kill, (yeah I know makes no sense) you will get a knock on the door from from zealot looking to make an example of you and more important legal precedence, which is where they continue to remove your constitutional rights. It is not a direct assault, that has failed so far, but if they can make it so that you would not dare protect yourself, they have won just the same. I just take the old adage of better safe than sorry. I would like nothing more than to spatter some jerk across the front yard and bag and hang his entrails from a post at the top of the drive as a warning. We just can't do that anymore. To bad though, I guarantee if there were little white crosses throughout the neighborhood where intruders were, shall we say prohibited from enjoying the fruits of their labors, I would think most of the problem would go away. Problem solved, in that neighborhood anyway. I will be the first to acknowledge that I am not a lawyer, and am not to familiar with the law, all I know is what has been sent down from the NRA and sites like these. If you really want to be sure, go get a free consultation from a criminal defense attorney. May at least give you some peace of mind. OR a horrible look into reality, however you wish to look at it!!!!

That's sad. So I'm going to assume that peace officers and 'security for politicians' are above the law and this doesn't apply.
