Home Audio/Video systems

I'm building a new home and I've had it prewired for a control4 systems.
The current problem is that we're massively over budget and the A/V package is pretty low on the "required" list.
I'd like to know if any of you know how I can do something close on my own or if there is a less expensive option through control4 or someone else?
There is a massive bundle of wires in my A/V communications closet.
I'll upload the estimate in my gallery in a sec if I can....it's a pdf.

The first thing I have to ask is what are you trying to control? Is it just the A/V gear, total home control, or something in the middle?

If cable management is an issue, you might want to consider using the same stuff IT guys use for server rooms; ladder racks and Panduit. You can get it from CDW or any provider of communication closet accessories and will allow much better cable management. Installing it yourself is easy and it will save you some money.

If you need cabling, you should be able to get it from places like Crutchfield, Radio Shack, online searching, or the strip mall A/V places.

I've got a friend that used to install stuff like this but he's in Afghanistan right now. I'll send him an e-mail to see if I can get some insight from him, but it would really help knowing what you want this system to do.

Well my original thought was just A/V control throughout the house but after speaking with the vendor the cost difference was negligible so I had them wire the house for total home control. I believe the estimate is something in the middle but can easily be upgraded to total control.
Anyway I'm just wondering if anyone knows these systems or something similar and what options I have in doing so.
Cabling isn't an issue. It's already all in place.
