HK Pistols and Concealed Carry

Howdy everybody, well Im in the process of completing my concealed carry course and Im just waiting now for the time to come. (I turn 21 in Oct.) Anyways, Im looking at what I want to carry. So far the one I like the best is the HK USP Compact chanbered in .45 acp. And yes I am biased to the .45 lol! Just curious if anybody is carrying this model and how you like it? I am also somewhat looking at the XD line by Springfield and the Sigs, but I really like the HK's so far. And BTW no Glocks for me, I just didn't like the one I had. And any recomendations on carry procedures? Thanks guys!

When carrying concealed the best thing to look for is comfort. I can conceal my 1911, but it's not the most comfortable. The best thing for everday concealment is something small enough to fit in your pocket. I have a Skyy Industries CPX-1 9mm for everday carry. It's a little big for pocket carry but small enough to be comfortable.

Have an XD 45, but dont see how anyone could easily carry it.. I have 5" model but even if it was 2" shorter i still wouldnt want to carry it.. a little big.

Keep mine in the truck with me when i have to drive in Phoenix or at home with me the rest of the time.

I carry a H&K USP .40 fullsize for work and concealed. I am not a small person so it is a little easier. I generally wear a t-shirt with a loose untucked button down short sleeved shirt (in the summer). I wear a high quality leather belt slide holster. Shirts with patterns (the funkier the better) will also help in breaking up the outline of the pistol. I could make some better suggestions for carry pistols but this works for me.

I carry an XD9 for now 4" barrel. Its basically too big for good concealed carry.
I guess I am back in the market for a Glock 26.

Glock 19 for me... I've had several Glocks ranging from the Subcompact 26 to the 21c... and settled with the 19 as its the most comfortable gun I've ever shot...

Pics in my gallery...

The HK is a nice choice, if you have enough length of body and are fairly lean - it's easier to conceal anything well if you don't already dunlop out to the sides and back

My son did pretty much what you are doing - waiting with bated breath for that magic birthday to roll around and get his CPP. He was literally on the steps of the cop shop when they opened on his 21st birthday!
He's packing a Kimber Custom, the commander length frame, in a horsehide IWB holster I made for him, it disappears real well.

Just remember, spare mags do the same thing to jeans pockets as those darn skoal cans do - and SOME of us are moxie enough to know from the outline what you are carrying!

I am a 45ACP fan as well but in the summer I carry a Kahr E9 in 9mm. Sure a 45 is better but I find it hard to conceal my Springfield Champion (commander size 1911) in the summer.

The HK is a good choice except that they are very thick, too thick for me to conceal.

I have a Ruger P95DC which is a double action with a decocker. I have 14 in the mag and 1 in the pipe so it's a point and shoot interface. Having to rack the slide in a hurry isn't my idea of fun.

Consider the Comp-Tac CTAC.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. That being said, when I carry my Glock I carry it in a FIST #12 Basic.

I like it because it fits very tight to the body. Even though it's OWB it conceals easily with nothing more than an untucked polo or t-shirt.
