He's already had an accident, gone public and tried several things that didn't work. Sounds like BP has been talking to him.

I was changing the power steering fluid in my truck and inadvertently sprayed some across a part of my interlocking brick driveway. I have spilled oil on these stones before and managed to clean it up, but this ATF 4 is another animal. The rough surface of the bricks makes it difficult to clean any oil, but even with a bit of old engine oil, have always got them clean. Nothing seems to touch the ATF 4. Tried a very strong mixture of Simple Green plus various other cleaners. I may have used plain water for all the good it has done so far. Even my pressure washer has zero effect.
Anybody got any ideas as to what will clean my mess up and consequently save my marriage and possibly my life?

Mexstan:

I have used Sodium Tri-Phosphate for cleaning brick and concrete and it has always worked good for me. I get it at hardware stores or at Lowes or Home Depot.
We use it to prep concrete for painting.

Good luck.

I'd have to stop working on the cars and have her pay the $90-up door rate at the garage and see how she soaked that up. Oil leaks, paint stripper, the list goes on. My wife hates it too, life goes on and I got better things to worry about than what the neighbors think of my driveway. She just don't see it that way! I know where your coming from! If my wife was gonna get ravin mad over that.....she'd have to get mad.

All the suggestions above would work. Floor dry and sawdust good for right after spill, brake clean good too. Best thing to do to hide it. Grab a handfull of dirt, pour it on, grind it in the brick real good with your foot then sweep it aside. Floor dry would work for this too, but dirt is free!

Be careful. It could be like cleaning a spot on your rug. You create a spot doing it. You'd be surprised how well mother nature deals with it. Try letting sun and rain do its work. I have many times had oils all over my driveway. It's all gone.

If it's your driveway, what's the problem? You can dump whatever you want on it.

I have good luck with kitty litter with paint thinner. Let it sit overnight.

Just don't call our prez & ask how to clean up an oil spill, because he has no idea.

Another good degreaser is Simple greens "Crystal" It is their industrial version, and works great. But it is hard to find I get it at Graingers.
