Welcome to DTR. If you want a V-6 diesel pickup, you're out of luck. If you want a six cylinder diesel pickup, there's only one choice, Dodge. Your budget means you will be looking at '92 and '93 models, the Club Cab will seat 4. On the pre '94 model names, D means 2wd, W means 4x4, 150 means 1/2 ton, 250 means 3/4 ton, 350 means 1 ton. The diesel is only available in 3/4 and 1 ton. Not all pre '94 1 tons are duallys.
Hope this helps.

Re:Help with first truck
Heh, this is exactly the reason why I am taking an Auto Shop class. I dont know the difference between a v-6 and 6-cylinder. I deffinatly want a 4x4 because I will be using it to get me to the slopes this winter. Thanks very much though. Your post cleared some of my other questions up! Can anybody recommend a certain model that fits my criteria? Ive spent a month looking and have yet to find anything online.

Only difference is the arrangement. V-6, arranged in a V shape. Inline six, all in a row, as God intended.

The differance between the 6cyl and the v6 is......
V6 is shaped like the common V8 but minus two cyl.'s.
3cyl. on the left bank and 3cyl. on the right bank.
Inline 6cyl has all 6cyl in a straight line.
Inline six=cummins power!
You should be able to find something for that price or maybe just a little more. If you do find one let us now before you buy and we would be glad to help ya out with what to look for. Good Luck! 8)

Was there a Ram 1500 diesel 6 cylinder?
[/quote]
I thought I saw one back in '89 or '90. A very early 1st gen truck, a D150. It's the only one I can remember from all the years I've been around them. I thought it wqas unusual even then.
