Does anybody else out there have a Heckler & Koch pistol? and if you do how do you like it.
I have had a H & K USP-45 for about 6 years now and I love it, wanted the SoCom but I could not afford it at the time. I have only put around 5000 rounds through it but it feels good., and some times you just have a need to feel good. I keep it loaded with hydroshock and a just in case magazine of you know those black bird claw things. That is the extended portion of my home security system, it also has the TacLight.
After the recoil getting used to the muzzle flash is the only difficult part of night shooting. I keep putting the comp brake on my Christmas list but haven't gotten it yet.
My last purchase was my Benelli M1-Super90 auto shotgun. I found out that on these you cannot use the cheap loads from like Wal Mart because it will not cycle and jam. Now I only use HOT hunting loads for practice and 00 buck for the real thing and also have 8 boxes of slugs should I need to drill any holes.

Another curious question...Have any of you ever been assaulted and or SHOT or both? How long does it take to get over the: jumping at every noise, not trusting anybody, snapping at them if they come up behind you, jumping in your sleep?
I was and it has been less than a year and I hope it will end soon. Man having a gun stuck in the side of your head is something you will never forget and after I gave them what they wanted, he shot be 6 times in the back, 2 went in the back of my truck. Man I tell you it really changes your attitude towards "Oh I will just wound him till the cops get here".
I was just wondering if anyone else has been there, done that.

I have an HK .45.

True story.
In "99" I was hit by my own car. A guy was stealing it and I tried to stop him. I ran right passed my pistol and got infront of the car, while at the same time he came at me so I ended up on the hood and he drove three blocks with me on the hood. After he tried to swerve and dump me off (it was snowing, no traction) I punched my fist through the windsheild and grabbed him. He stopped and I got off the car.

It took me about 3 1/2 years to get "normal" again. Short term memory loss, depression, diagnosed with PTSD. The best thing I can tell you is just get over it, you survived, but it will take time. I'm pretty much over it now, but it was a life altering event for sure.

I had read your previous post about SoCal, and it sounds as if you may need to move somewhere else. I have been assaulted at knife point, and the jerk paid the price for trying that. I have also looked at the wrong end of a .357, and that changed my perspective on things. After these events I am not the brawler I used to be. Being my size, 6'5" and 360 lbs, people tend to use equalizers before things get going, and it is not worth it for me to get all wound up and start kicking butt anymore. Now I protect what is mine, and defend my family. But after what you have been through, it sounds like you need to get away from people for a while, and get to a more laid back small town atmosphere. I hope things work out for you.

Never been shot but been robbed 3 times at a place I used to work.
I saw the guy coming across the street at 3:00 am with a gun sticking out of his belt. I told my co worker were are about to get robbed. Sure enouth in he comes gun pointed right at my head. and says"gimme da money". .45 auto. That hole gets bigger every time I think about it.
I was sitting on the counter by the cash reg. and told him "take it easy" and reached over and open the drawer. I says "do you want just the bills or all of it. He says "gimme the f... cash" so I gave him the whole drawer...$40 total. and he takes off. I reached under the counter and got a dime out of our phone jar and called the cops. Funny about 2 minutes later this guys runs into a detective just down the street. He was still holding the cash drawer!!!!! DA.

It was a bit of justice to point him out in a line up and again in the court room. He got 15 years no parole since he already had 3 priors for armed robbery.

The other 2 were druggies. Actually more scarry as they were spaced out. One couldn't hardly talk. got to point them out too. both got 5-10 but probably went to detox and rehab.

still it isn't fun when you are on the open end of the barrel.

 

No HK Jim, but I do travel with either my Kimber .45 or Springfield XD .40- Sadly there are alot of nut cases out there.
I got shot at alot last summer, mostly it was rockets and mortars though. When I returned to the states, I was a little agitated and short tempered, but that has since gone away. Loud unexpected noises still make me want to hit the dirt though.
As far as a time frame- I can't say. I think I have blocked alot of the memories of Iraq out of my head. Seems that's what we do when something traumatic happens to us. Best thing is to keep a positive attitude and move on. It'll get better.

 

I've never been shot at or held up or assaulted with a gun or knife so feel free to flame me for being full of it.

I have never believed the BS on TV about cops being so torn up about having to kill someone who was trying to kill them. IMHO if somebody is trying to kill me or my loved ones and I kill him first, I might be upset about being assaulted but I wouldn't be upset at all for having to kill him.

NO H&K here, I keep a S&W #410 40 pretty close along with a bunch of others if I'm home.
I was a deputy Sheriff for 11 years never had to shoot anyone or got shot at, Have looked at the business end of a couple of guns before but I was in good cover and finally convinced other people to drop or they were going to die. Thank the Lord for that.

 

No H&K here, but my boss has one as a consealed carry gun. He likes it better than his SIG.

 

Got a fullsize HK USP .45 I inherited from my dad. I have a CCW but rarely carry the HK, bit to bulky for me.....keep the Glock 23 for that

 

Got shot in the back in Brooklyn...Back when i was in the "Hood"... 3 times....deflated my left lung, missed my heart and Left Ventricle by about 1 millimeter, and made my left leg all messed up....nothin like a 9 milimeter hollow point, and the Mafia...Yea, my Pap and my Grand Pap was in the Mafia, and i learned that in the ER....

While working at a pawn shop I got the luxury of carrying a variety of different pistols. By far my favorite was one H&K USP compact .40 it was a DA/SA pistol with a safety. I wish to this day I had kept that pistol for myself. It was a wonderful weapon..

Never got shot, but stabbed 3 times in the chest during a robbery was enough for me. Takes awhile to stop jumping. Still get edgy around knives. Try to be calm and let time do its job.

 

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, I know it will take a long time get better but I dont think I can ever forget about it, I relive it as if it just happened whenever my mind is not occupied. It was April 27, 2004 at 10:28 P.M. exactly.
For lack of a better discription I was ambushed, I was in the light and they came out of the shadows. One ask "man ya got the time?" I looked at my cell and said 10:28 P.M. and while I said that I KNEW something was going down, man I just had that sick feeling. I walked to the back of my truck and had just enough time to open the back on my camper I am talking like less than 2 seconds and I felt the muzzle of the gun on the right side of my head. There were 2 of then tall and skinny and must have been on crack because they were tweeking and twitching when they were grabbing at me. One said "gimmy ya money, keys to your truck and cell phone or I kill ya" They called me a few other choice names I can't say. I was calm and handed then my phone and by them they were going through my pockets just grabbing. I wear BDU's so they did not get my wallet (too many pockets) and I have a habit of tucking my truck key under my belt so didn't get that either but they got $80.00 cash and my phone. People talk about getting tunnel vision and their life flashing before them in this kind of situation, it was. With all of the noise and sounds outside all I could hear was their rapid jerky breathing nothing else. They then backed up about 3 feet and I heard the action on the gun and felt the muzzle blast as he shot me in the back 6 times. 4 hit me and 2 hit my truck. I kept saying to myself please don't be a .45 or 9 mil and luckly it was only a .32.they then ran off. Of course me being the logical one I controlled the situation by turning it into anger and the amazing will to keep living. Funny thing, the gunshots did not hurt I just felt them hit me. Then I said to myself "I can still breathe, I felt my chest and saw nothing came out the front so I must be OK. I then went about 20 feet to the place I was working and said to call 911 I was just shot. (It was not easy calling my wife and telling her I was just shot) Police got there within 3 min. In talking with police lady she said someone was just robbed 15 min earlier and same M.O. Went to the hospital and for once I didn't have to wait too long, only about 1 hour. They had to take x-rays first to see if they might have a secondary explosion they said. The triage nurse took my BP and ask if I was under any kind of stress because it was over 200 To make the story short they dug them out and I got to go home. The physical part healed fairly fast but the memory of it drags on.
Then last week 1 block from where I was shot, some guy at a mini mart was robbed and KILLED by 2 people and was caught on camera. Just waked up to the car and shot him for no reason and walked away. This was on the news.
