Hauling for charity

I would like to do something nice for someone in need this Christmas season. I don't really love just writing a check because I have no clue where it goes and would prefer to be involved in my giving.

I was thinking I might try to find a charity or perhaps a Katrina victim who needs some stuff hauled (have a whole week off and then some between X-mas and New Years).... no not that new car you bought on eBay cross country and not a FEMA load.

For example on uship.com, I see someone offering to pay $400 just for 1 fridge to be moved down to New Orleans. I would love to take a whole load of fridges (or whatever is in need) for free. I might also be heading over to TX to pick up a Take 3 trailer anyway so this would be almost on the way.

Anyone know where I might go about finding something to haul?
