Handheld GPS
Interesting Thread... Quite timely...
I was looking for one just today as a matter of fact. I think I have settled on a Garmin Etrex Vista Cx. about $350, Color, maps, and has a removable 64mb little micro SD memory card that can hold gobs of downloaded detailed maps. Vista is the exact same thing as the EtreX Legend Cx except the Vista has a true electronic self-calibrating magnetic compass(which I need) and a barometric altimeter(which I don't need).
For what I'll use it for(ham radio and road travel), I would like to have the electronic mag compass without having to walk a ways to derive the GPS compass bearing. I will be using it in stationary ham applications with Maidenhead gridsquare coordinates.
Now if I can just find the cheapest dealer...
