Gutsy Alaskan
I got this email about a fella in Alaska. Any you fellas in Alaska know about this guy.
Can you imagine this?
There was a feature on this guy in one of the Anchorage Newspapers. He is retired and has been FEEDING bears in his cottages back yard for over 25 years. The bears just come and hang out and he believes them to be his friends WOW, good luck with that

That is a cattle prod I see leaning there against his leg, isn't it?
Not too bright if you ask me, especially having those younger girls messing with them. With the number of people who are bit every year by DOGS alone, I would imagine he'd feel mighty dumb if one of those bears mauled someones arm off.

There is an inherent problem with people like this, they think the bear is not going to act like a bear when it takes a notion to. That is just trouble waiting to happen, and it will sooner than later.
Concur. Better keep the "pepper spray" (Tabasco) handy. As we all know the bear may need to use it.
What was the name of the guy that went to live with the bears every year in the wild in Alaska. Discovery channel had a special about him and some people thought he was such a great man. The pilot that went to pick him up a couple years ago found a few remains and a couple of well fed bears. I guess the bears liked him too.
This looks like another one of those situations.

These type of people are just idiots plain, and simple. Don't expect me to call the ambulance when they tear your arm off. You brought it on yourself.
Dad sent me this quite a while ago. That's great he's befriended those bears, it's a free country after all. I just don't want to hear any bleedin hearts cryin to put those animals down after he or his family get mauled. Those are wild animals in a wild setting. For what its worth I have never needed a bears acceptance..just his distance! Kurt
I never heard of this guy, but checking on it. Can't believe he is doing this, let alone 25 years. First off its a crime to feed them, what happens if they go to a stranger wanting food and they don't have any. Then the bad bear will have to be shot, and so should the idiot that feeds them.
Something does not look right in a couple of these pictures. I wonder if ther eis some real good Photo shopping going on.
The first picture in the second post is of a grizzly. At least the head anyway. No way they are hugging wild grizzlies. If they are it won't be for long...

The second picture in the second post is showing a girl about to get her face chewed off. A bear in that stance is not being a friendly mimic, it is exhibiting an aggressive stance. And the guy in the first post sitting on what appears to be a young bear or cub, no way the bear or the bears mom is going to stand for that.
