Over the holidays, my son came in from Corpus Christi. Had to show off his new truck. On the way back To Tx, his GF called him and broke up. He is speeding to the fight. Blows out a front tire. Jumps out cussin and yelling and locks himself out. He said he had to jump up and down in the middle of the interstate for 2 hours before someone called the cops about somebody having a fit. Called me to talk about it and all I could do was laugh.

Paybacks are coming, I'm sure.

Roger on the P-38. Still got the same one I went through boot camp with in 72 in my bucket. Some kids asked me for a can opener one day (sonewhere up in the Shenandoah valley) and I handed them that.
Had to show them how to use it and they thought it was the coolest thing since a pocket on a shirt.

Locked myself out of my truck several years ago and with the hassel to get it unlocked I decided to have two complete sets of keys with me. I use a small stainless chain good for key holder that I found at a locksmith's place. I carry a set in each of my front trouser pockets. Yes, I have had to use the other set several times over the years because I locked my vehicle leaving one set inside. To me it's worth carrying two sets.

I have gotten in the habit of automatically checking my pocket for the keys just prior to shutting the door. (too many years in the nuclear industry) It is so automatic now that I even do it when getting out of other peoples vehicles.
(hey, you can still teach an old fat dog new tricks, who'da thunk it?)

My second day driving to work, with the new truck, I left it running for cool down while I went to punch-in. Returning to the truck I found I had the remote keyless entry for my wife's Sebring. I cut a piece of wire, stuffed the Keyless entry in the top of the door as a wedge and opened the door with the wire.
That night I ordered a Cool Down Timer. and attached the KL E to my truck key. Now even in the morning I set the timer, to 6 min, and pull the key when I go back into the house.

I'll give in with my little "secret". I'm very **** about losing keys or being stranded due to personal stupidity...

I have a fair share of keys on my keychains. To prevent being locked out of anywhere I put a spare truck key in my wallet, which is chained to my belt, and carried at all times. I have a spare toolbox key, house key, garage key inside the truck. As well as another spare of each key at the house.

But, If I happen to get mugged, robbed, lose my wallet, forget my wallet, whatever... I have a spare truck key inside a small Ziploc bag, wrapped in black electrical tape around a wire loom uner my truck. This way it cannot be seen or found by anyone but me. It cannot be harmed by weather, or lost by vibration like the Hide-A-Key boxes. By putting it in the Ziploc bag it keeps it from having the tape residue on the key itself when opening. I've used this trick once, and darn sure glad I did it.

Sorry about the window...alot of people have had to go that same route. Bummer.

I keep a key in my wallet. I have used it atleast 10 times.

I had a 96 GMC 1/2ton, and I kept a key on a wire loom inside the bumper near. Attatched it with a key ring. It got abused by the weather a little, but not too bad. It bailed me out quite a few times.

One time I locked my key in the truck, and my wallet was sitting on the center console. dang! there went the backup. I used a wire coathanger, and hit the electric locks through the top of the door molding. it made hole in the molding, but it didnt leak.

A few years ago my wifes Sister and here Family from CT cam out to visit. Well the boys had never shot so i took them to a forest service range about 15 miles out in the woods.
Well we shot up a few boxes of ammo and I said lets pack it up and just then We realized one of my nephews had locked the door and there were my key half way out to stop the dinger.
I after about 2 hrs with a wedge in the top of the door and a wire with a salmon leader attached go fed up and as i ripped it out low and behold it grabbed the latch and we were ok.
But in this time my poor brother inlaw had got 8 miles down the forest service road twords a phone. He was a bit hot but I am happy to report all the nephews survived the day.

LOL now there is a key tie wrapped to the frame

Here here!

Spare key has been "installed."

BTW, The glass place told me if I had just broken the center piece it woulda been $100... paid $300 installed for a aftermarket slider because the left and right pieces are all 1 piece on a frame. Had to take it because they were the only people who would do it the next day. Leaving tomorrow for a 1+ week trip on the road!
