Our Boxer gets some expensive stuff from the specialty dog store that the vet recommended. The old lady always gets it so i never remember the name on the bag, i just see the bill.

try to avoid any dry food that contains wheat gluten and corn. it is getting more and more difficult to find those that don't since many of the dry foods are made by the same companies putting different labels on the bags.

dry foods for filler, table meat and canned tuna fish for clean protean.

My dog got rabbit fever(tularemia) about 8 years ago...high fever took out his thyroid and hurt his immune system, so now he is on thyroid pills twice a day plus he is on non alerginic food (very premium food). He gets a serving of dry + 1/4 can of wet for supper. He does get some scraps scrapped into his bowl after I'm done. BBQ's are different where its ok to beg for treats.

I feed my dog AR Kat Hunters Blend. He gets between 2-2 1/2 cups a day. 1-1 1/4 in the morning and at night. IMO it is not really expensive since their are more expensive brand out there though the quality is there. He does get the occasion left over Popsicle.

canidae... salmon & overweight formula mixed at a 30/70 ratio. that plus this beef & rice roll of dog food... gets mixed in with the morning feed, night feeding is just the dry food.

I have English Mastiffs..my female eats Natural Balance and my male eats Orijen. The Orijen is very pricey but worth every penny. Its like 90% meat and he is competes in conformation shows...so he needs a high quality kibble.

Kirkland is NOT made by Nutro...its made by Diamond.

Nutro also is NOT high end. Its just above supermarket kibble. Better than Iams or Eukanuba though...but still not premium IMO.

I don't have a dog. But the ones in the hood that swing by for a snack I give my fermented left over chilly. Some one is sleeping outside tonight.

We had a long haired retriever when I was a kid. My parents had him when I was born. That dog ate the cheapest dry food, mixed with every table scrap from everyone's plate (8 of us) his entire life. I was 18yo and in boot camp when I got the letter that he died in his sleep.

My dogs get fed Chicken soup for the dog brand food, dry, with meat table scraps mixed in.
