I am SO proud of her!!!
My oldest step-daughter took second place at the Kansas Monster Buck Classic today for her very first deer ever...the award was presented by Troy Landry of Swamp People fame.

Congrats to both of you, Chris. Very nice rack -- my little 6 pointer in my office looks a bit puny compared to that. Neat to see a nice looking gal enjoy hunting and getting familiar with self protection. Hopefully it was a fun time together for both of you.
Speaking of favorite guns, my favorite deer gun for the Everglades is my Winchester 94. I bought that baby 40 years ago and it still looks almost new, and it ain't from not using it. Very compact and easy gun to use. Bought that and a Belgium Browning 12ga shotgun together. Both great guns.

beleive it or not, KS is one of the top 5 states for international poachers, hunting our deer around here..and elk in northwest KS and antelope in the south..
and the deer population has been way too large for a few years now..
They keep tossing around the idea of an open season, no tag required, but hasnt happened yet.
Few years back I had a herd of about 7 whitetail around my place that would jump in the horses pen and eat out of the bale feeder now and then if the dogs weren't out. Last two winters have been mild enough tho that I haven't seen them except their tracks at the pond..

Well no wonder! Didn't know it was a bow hunt.
In that case it has about 6 or 7 more points than anything I got with a bow.
